It's really just 1" neoprene foam. I use their Damplifier mat product for the damping part. Rear hatch is really easy compared to other parts of the truck...
Wow, nice rape price. I can order the same from other sources for a bit of savings. Question: does it come with the adhesive already applied, or did you also have to get that separately?

Found the pics from when I installed this thing.

Here is the whole inside of the door. Bottom of the hatch (latch) is at the top.

Here is the door lock and window latch mechanism (glass is to the left of the picture -- not sure why it uploaded sideways).

Here is the hatch latch mount/cinch motor in the door.

And the old/new side by side.

Installation was super easy. 15 minutes and a total of 6 screws. You have to pull/replace the fuse to reset the mechanism and you're good to go!

Thanks for posting those pics! I'll have to remember to look & see if there is a disconnected plug back there whenever I get around to pulling the panels off. How much did you say that part was?

My pleasure! It's $165.25 and part number 90502-ZS00A (you have to ask for it by number because apparently it's not a normally categorized part).

New guy here...

Resurrecting a slightly old thread, but...

Purchased a pre-owned 2010 LE last Friday. Loving the truck so far, but I'm out of town right now and my wife called to tell me the tailgate won't open. Gave her the reset suggestion from another thread, but in the meantime, wanted to find out if the 2010 LE came with the cinch feature.

Any assistance would be great!

Welcome!

Yes, I believe you have it. The cinch motor came in 2008-2010 Pathfinders, so you're on the tail end.

There's also a manual release latch on the inside of the hatch. If the motor isn't working, open the glass, reach in, remove the little square cover and stick your finger in there. A word of caution: don't slam the rear hatch with the glass all the way open--you'll break the window strut mounts (the little plastic things the struts mount to).

I posted this on the other tailgate thread as well, but what fuse number and in what fuse box is the fuse for the cinch motor?

The fuse box is inside the lower glove box door. When you open the glove box, you'll see a plastic cover on the right side.

I can't remember the fuse number off hand but it's either the first or second from the top in the right column (I think). There's a label on the inside of the plastic cover (the one you removed to access the fuses) that will tell you. I think it's called "Rear Hatch."

So what I thought would be a simple fix is quickly becoming a PITA.

I'm really starting to wonder if my 2010 LE has this feature. It is in the Owner's Manual and I do have the fues...glove box fuse panel, 3rd from the top on the left side..."Backdoor". I've pulled it and replaced with new (wasn't blown, just figured fuses are cheap).

I open the tailgate no problem, then bring it down gently and no cinch...grrr!

It does, however, feel like there is a primary latch and a secondary...much like a door.

Also, under the little rectangular cover on the inside of the tailgate, there is no manual release lever. In fact, there's nothing!!

My PF was built in 08/10, so it is a late 2010. We all know Nissan ditched the feature in '11. Could it be that the late 2010's ceased to include this?

Tailgate works fine otherwise.

It does sound like you may not have it. When mine broke, the door wouldn't open. One way to find out for sure is to call a dealer's service department with your VIN. They can look it up for sure.

Do you have an electronic latch mechanism or a mechanical one? The mechanical one is a plastic lever you pull and the electronic is more of a button that operates a release motor that you can hear right before the door releases.

That's the weird thing...

Its electronic. Push a button, hear small motor release door. But closing it is as though it is the older manual design like on the 2007 PF SE I used to have.

Was there an electronic one that didn't have the cinch feature? What was on the 2011? Again, there is no manual release under the plastic cover inside...just empty space.

I'll call the dealer tomorrow.

Thanks for all your insight on this!

My Jetta wagon was like that, where a motor would release the latch but there was no cinch feature.

Here are some interesting things:

I looked at a 2011 manual to see if it cinches and it says: "To close, lower and gently push the lift gate down. The power latch will engage to securely latch the lift gate." It says the same thing in the 2008 manual. Not sure if this is just an oversight. Here's a link: http://www.vadennissanservicecontracts. ... finder.pdf

Another difference between the 2008 and 2011 manuals is that the 2008 shows how to open the hatch from inside (through that little cover I was talking about) and the 2011 does not. Not sure why they deleted that in the car.

I do know the hatch latch assembly has different model numbers for 2011-2012.

Anyone else reading this have a 2010-2012 with the rear hatch cinch feature?

I have a 2012 SV and it's exactly like yours. The release is electronic, no cinch in closing, and I don't see a manual release under the plastic cover either.

I have a 2012 and there is a release, its WAYYYY the hell in there though, its ironic, I can reach it if I have the complete interior panel off (wanted to teach myself how to feel for it and what to look for if it does go so I can get the door open relatively quickly). If the panel is on, my hand isnt small enough to fit in there and my fingers are too short to reach the 1/4" nub on the latch that needs to move... I'm gonna drill a hole in it and thread some paracord through it to pull.
