The way it was described to me, is the silicone fluid in the clutch falls out of place when its not running. The longer the car sets, the more it has to get back in place when you start it.

Sounds like the mechanical fan clutch. Spin the plastic fan by hand. It it stops in about a turn, it's probably fine. I notice the longer the PF sits, the louder it roars when it starts.

Mine stopped working a year or so ago. It doesn't come on. I use tap water in there and figured its gummed up. It's so minor that I don't consider it a problem. I never though of pursuing it. But I'll be interested to see what you find.

Put the smaller side on the drain plug first. The larger side will flatten around it.

You had a Grand Wagoneer too, huh. I owned a '90 for 11 years and I replaced most everything on it - twice. It used to take me a full day of checking it over before we'd go on a 1,000 mile trip. I hate to say, but my PF hasn't had a single thing go wrong. I forget to even check the oil before trips ...

Yikes! I hope that station is in the middle of nowhere!
That's the gas station in Furnace Creek. I've had to fill up there before.

I think this is where I bought my kit. It's been 3 years, so I'm not sure. http://www.nissanonlineparts.com/storename/cherryhillnissan/dept/250403/ItemDetail-10520514.aspx I do remember that the hardest part was getting the plastic blanks out. The installation of the lights and turn stalk were easy.

That's good to know,,,,but I'm still gonna do the mod. Well, easiest way is to take both hoses off the radiator cooler and connect them with a short length of new hose. As you noticed, the output for the radiator cooler wraps around the driver's side on ours on its way to the auxiliary cooler, whic...

2008+ is different, as you found. I bypassed mine a long time ago with a second cooler and a fan. I search every so often to see if I can find a 2008 with the radiator cooler problem, but I haven't seen one.

eieio - I have a gauge on mine and despite a couple decades of towing experience, the readings are much different than I expected. On the interstate = low tranny temperatures, dense city driving or steep hills = higher tranny temperatures, backing a trailer up a hill at .01 mph = really high temps. ...

Thanks 08Datsun. Do you think I should just add the B&M cooler and fan in series with the existing external transmission oil cooler or just replace the OEM cooler? That really depends on how hard you're going use it. You already said you don't tow. Off-roading is the other thing that builds a l...

233 is bit high. A Ford transmission engineer told me 225 is what to keep it under and that 175-195 is ideal. My '08 has been bypassed and has two coolers plus a 500cfm fan. It gets to 180-195 off-road and pulling a trailer up a hill, but we haven't seen any really hot weather(110+) to really test i...

Spedo to GPS on the stock 245's was consistently about 3 mph off at highway speeds (70 on spedo was 67 on GPS)...now is dead on with the 265's. With the stock 245's, the speedo read about 72 when the GPS read 70. Highway mileage was typically around 21 per the readout.

With 265's, the speed and the GPS are exactly the same, and highway mileage is now consistently about 20.
