Thanks for the heads-up on the other way in with that hose, Hermit! I do appreciate it. I'm hoping she holds for a while longer, but it did have the original clamps on it (argh). On a separate but leak-related note, I noticed that when I park the truck on an incline (with the rear end higher), there...

Well, hopefully they hold out for a while, but what you said makes sense.

Finished...I hope

Got her done. Took twice the time and beer anticipated, but she runs again! I went with a mix of OEM Nissan parts and the eBay kit. I did not end up changing that elbow hose behind the rear timing cover for the cams (kind of wish I did, but the cam seals seemed okay and so I did not pull them or the...

Got the eBay parts kit today. Pretty pleased with what came. Shipped super quick (took 2.5 days) and the parts included are: Continental Contitech accessory belts (German made?) Mileage Maker timing belt (US made) NPW (Nissan Pump MFG Co., Japan) Flennor Automotive Germany tensioner (says made in Ja...

Thanks for getting back on that, SMJ. I will definitely go with the OEM (BKR6EY) as it'll take me about 5 or 6 years to put 20K on this baby. She's got 276K on the clock, so just trying to keep her happy and not change too many variables. I've had some real stinkers in the past with driver's side re...

Spark plugs for 1991 SE

Howdy amigos, Just a quick question about spark plugs for a '91 SE with the VG30E. All three of my manuals say to use NGK BKR6EY. That appears to be a v-groove electrode plug, while the NGK site also recommends the BKR6ES, which is a flat electrode plug. Was the v-groove plug OEM spec on these engin...

Thanks for the tips, SMJ. I ended up going with the eBay kit and and then OEM Nissan for the rest (bypass and upper and lower rad hoses, t-stat and tensioner stud (just in case)). All parts are supposed to be here by Friday and the project begins Saturday morning. I'll definitely take some pictures ...

Thanks for the input and the knowledge, SMJ, I do appreciate it. I think that is the route I'm going to go and then order a few other parts (t-stat included) from a Nissan supplier. I used Nissan Parts Zone for my battery hold down bits and door lock clips/plates and they came through pretty well. I...

1991 Pathfinder SE timing belt project, OEM Nissan or eBay?

Howdy amigos, New to the forum here. I've had my '91 Pathfinder SE for about 2 weeks and after going through the service records, I see that she is about 30K overdue for her timing belt service (read: ticking time bomb!). I'm about to order the parts and was wondering if anyone had any input about p...

Thanks, RCAPathfinder! I haven't decided yet on what to do with the paint, but something will definitely get done before winter. I like the idea of just clear coating it. I'm going to start a project thread in the model-specific forum and will post a few of the things I did so far (door lock clips a...

New member, 1991 Pathfinder SE, Chicago

Hey guys, Just wanted to make a quick post to introduce myself. I picked up the truck last week and am very excited to get to work on it (needs a few odds and ends). It is the SEV6 trim level with a 5-speed manual trans. My previous Nissan was a '78 280Z, so I'm not sure much will carry over, but th...
