I'm not driving the Pathfinder any differently or going anyplace I didn't go with the Pilot. Well, except for off-roading, but that doesn't involve any sand or stones hitting the windshield (unless I flip!).

Sand? Hell yeah! Snow? Bring it on! Mud? I'll go there, within limits? Rocks? Why not, as long as I've got the clearance. I don't do anything extreme -- as other point out, it's too costly to chance wrecking a new, expensive truck -- but if I wasn't going to use the truck for some fun, I could certa...

Aside from a few scratches or scuffs where I've attempted impromptu landscape modification and some very light brush pinstripes, the paint is holding up fine for me after 1 year. When I detail the truck, usually every couple of months, I use a synthetic clear-coat polish/sealer and then two applicat...

Actually, I'm kinda surprised at how soft the windshield glass is. I had my Honda Pilot for 2 years and took some major stone hits with nary a mark. But the Nissan windshield is showing considerable pitting after just a year. My concern with replacing the windshield with other than OEM is a) knowing...

I think this is a great idea. In fact so much so, that I've been playing around with it for the past 4 hours. Here's some ideas on different colored backgrounds. Issues to consider: minimum line weight for outline letters. Minimum font size for small print. Can 2-color be done cost effectively, espe...

Thanks for all the suggestions. I do a lot of driving so I have gotten used to 20-22 hr travel days. In-fact, I average at-least one cross country trip per year. So far my fastest was 2 1/2 days from CA to NJ solo. Ah, the benefits of youth! I can generally go 4-6 hours, or 8 with a good nap in bet...

Yeah, nice setup. Tell us about the hose you have there for refueling. I have a similar setup (see the Las Vegas section under Death Valley 2008) and I would like to not have to take the gas tanks down to refuel. Just curious, were you off-roading in MOAB with the Pathy, or Mtn Biking? The hose is ...

Re: NJ to CA and back in Nov, Looking for ideas

If you're leaving in November and plan on being back in NJ by Thanksgiving you have about 4 weeks if you depart on the 1st. You seem to already have a lot of destinations on your schedule for that amount of time. Remember the trip I took covered half the highlights you have planned in 3 weeks, and i...

Are you using the Bluetooth capability for your cell phone? If so, how is that working for you and did you have to do any additional work (ie.: adding a separate microphone?). FYI, I've got the 760 with Bluetooth in the Nissan housing. People couldn't hear me, even with all the windows closed and s...

Triffid, I also replied to your PM, but thought this might be helpful to others as well. There are two versions of Topo maps from Garmin: 10K resolution or 24K resolution. At present, the 24K resolution is only available for US National Parks and is divided by region (West, Central, East, as three s...

Before buying my '07 Pathfinder, I had owned: 1999 Isuzu Rodeo LS 4WD 2004 Toyota Highlander 2005 Honda Pilot LE/Leather The Rodeo was roomy and very good off-road but I grew tired of it's harsh ride. In the end, parts were expensive and hard to find and things were breaking too frequently. The High...

Hi Terry, I've got a '07 SE with V6 and the AirLift kit. I pull a dual axle, 21 ft hybrid camper, ( Rockwood Roo 21SS ), 3,480 lbs dry weight and 4,800 loaded, with an Equal-I-zer weight-distributing/anti-sway hitch on the Pathfinder's stock receiver. I recently pulled this camper with my Pathfinder...

On a tangential subject, does anyone have practical experience with throttle-body spacers? Do they improve performance and/or fuel economy? Are their any negative factors or concerns to consider?

I have the AirLift 1000 kit on my '07 SE and do not recommend that company. It went in fairly easy, but the spring clamps to secure the hoses were a little difficult to get in place on the top of the bags due to tight clearance. But that's not my beef with AirLift. Without getting into a long story,...
