ABLS is NOT disabled when VDC is off. Discovered that in my 05 in an icy parking lot this weekend.

Finally got it fixed and would've cost me -$1500 if it wasn't for the warranty. Reason was the chain was slightly loose, causing the chain to drag on the guide. Took them 3 days to complete the repair... kinda thinkin how long it would've taken me to do it in the backyard with my own FSM. I have an...

Just filled up from empty (10L still in the tank) with Esso 93 Octane.

Pinging is gone.

Is this a sign of a bad anti-knock sensor?

i agree with the fuel quality degradation. All regular and mid-grade gas in Manitoba is now potential 10% ethanol. What effect does that have to pinging? They tried to sell it by saying that ethanol is a natural anti-knock agent, but I have my doubts. At first, while gas prices were below $1/liter, ...

running 87 octane co-op gas here in winnipeg. I find the pinging comes and goes, which to me indicates a fuel issue, not a truck issue.

Winter fuel pings less. (or so i've noticed so far.)

Can anyone direct me to a copy of the TSB referred to here? My daily commute is about 40km of highway driving, and based on my reading of similar situations, if the vent control valve has failed, I am told it takes 15 minutes at speeds greater than 80 km/h to get the SES light to come on. Well, afte...

OK so after I reset the SES light, it came back on after about 25kms. When I got home, reset it again and did the obligatory gas cap tightening to make sure thats not the issue.

Anyone have any input or suffered from a similar problem?

05 Pathfinder DTC 1446

On the way in to work this morning, SES light came on. Happened to have my code reader with me, so at a stoplight I plugged it in. DTC 1446, which is Evaporative Vacuum Solenoid Circuit, or more specific to Nissans, VENT CONTROL VALVE FAULT. Anyone seen this one? I reset the code and it hasn't come ...

most battery blankets I've seen (and thats a lot since I am in Winnipeg) are the same with different brand names on them. Get the cheapest one as you will replace at least every 2 yrs. Princess Auto usually has the best deal. Though the closest one to where you are at would prob be Edmonton or Grand...

had the old pathy filter in my garage and it happened to be sitting beside a new Honda Civic filter (2008 model) I have. The filters are identical. How could a filter for a 1.8l 4 cyl have enough filter element to support flow from a 4L v6 with this much power? Think I will be looking for external f...

Re: oil change

And why is the oil filter so tiny on the 4.0 L engine? The filter does seem small for a 4.0L but it's also the same size as is used on the 5.6L V8 engine. Purolator Pure1, Mobil1 and Amsoil EA are microfiber replacement filters which do finer micron cut of particles flowing through but I run a 0W30...

it'll be Castrol Syntec for me. I used to be a Mobil 1 guy, but that stuff is over $40 for 5 litres now... geez!

Castrol was $38, and I have always liked its seal conditioning properties in my old hondas.

oil change

OK so I'm a handy guy. Always done my own oil changes, even done engine and tranny swaps on my hondas. Pretty much anything I think about doing, I research and do it. Today went to change the oil on the Pathy. And although I only spent about 10 minutes underneath it, and the mosquitos were driving m...
