Re: Signing off...mostly

How do you like the 4Runner compared to the Pathfinder? I also may be replacing my 2006 Pathfinder soon, but I'm not crazy about anything out there. I was considering a slightly used 4Runner or even Armada. Amazingly, 2017-2018 Armadas and 4Runners I've seen are around the same price. I would have ...

Signing off...mostly

I haven't posted much of anything in the last couple of years. Mostly because I've been so incredibly busy. I was laid off 3 years ago from a job in a profession that has turned into the epitomy of greed. It all worked out as I was planning on leaving anyway, but this just pushed me out there a bit ...

Re: Wading depth?

I've been doing some light reading about wading in our vehicles as well. There seems to be a mix of information on the rear diffs. I've seen a member say his info from a Nissan Tech is that the rear diff is sealed while other members say the rear diff's breathing tube goes up behind one of the whee...

Armada's too big for my needs and I don't need something that gets worse gas mileage than my Pathfinder. I already have that in my supercharged Frontier that sucks down premium unleaded at 13 MPG! I agree. I love the look of the new (to the US) Armada, but not with that mileage and definitely not w...

I haven't heard anything about Nissan coming back with a true SUV again. I really think they should. I was at the dealer a few days ago and all of their vehicles make me want to vomit. My plan is to hold out for the next gen 4Runner. If something were to happen right now, I'd buy a current gen 4Runn...

Re: Question about some noises coming from my exhaust.

Couple of days ago I noticed my car becoming louder and louder. It has previously done this when I was stopped and then started moving again, but nothing really after that. Now it’s just constant noise. Is it my exhaust or something within the engine itself? If anyone has any idea please let me k...

In my experience, the shocks are really not going to make much of a difference. If you really want to improve the off road handling, new springs would make more of a difference. If you simply replace the shocks, those factory springs are still going to be soft & will bottom out a lot more off ro...

There are a lot more of the clamps than you might expect. I've replaced every single one of mine, yet I still have a slight rattle somewhere that I can't find. Anyway, make sure you check every clamp. Just visually looking will do nothing. You have to actually get your hand on the clamp and feel all...

I know what you mean. Almost every single time I lean across the seat from the outside, the seat will move. Have a look under the seat. Surely there must be a small wiring harness with a disconnect on it you can unplug.

NVSteve - Those are some amazing pics of Africa! The clarity on the photos is stunning. What camera / lens combo did you use? BTW - I've heard some bad reports about the rooftop tents as well. Just bought a tent-cot which is better in soooo many ways! I used a Nikon D750 for the first half of the t...

Re: Just R51 stuff

My 2006 Toyota 4Runner was a joke when the traction control kicked in if the wheels spun it would kick in and you would not go anywhere! It would just sit there no matter how hard you mashed the go pedal! It was actually dangerous. I've had the same happen to me in the Pathfinder. One prime example...

As to the glass lifts from McMaster, they function identically to stock, meaning that they barely work now. If I decide to replace them again, I'm going to up the rate on them. How long did they last? Do you think upping the rate would extend their life? I just installed McMaster-Carr rear hatch an...

The glass lifts from McMaster-Carr are P/N: 9416K162 200psi is probably the most popular for the rear hatch. A lot of people have used the 225psi and have thought they were a bit too much. thanks smj! :D are they close to equivalent to stock lifts? NVSteve posted a pic comparison of the two and com...

Re: Matching Paint

Anyone with the Silverton Blue ever have a panel painted and matched correctly? Yes. I had the driver's front wheel well painted as the paint had blistered in a few spots. Also had them paint the hood while they were at it. Rear driver's door was painted after someone put a hole in it with somethin...
