Thanx for info about ATF origins, but still if you ask me, I'd rather stay with what Nissan tells me. Maybe it's interesting, for all and any other fluid, user manual and service manual do RECOMMEND original Nissan OR EQUIVALENT. Except for ATF, where there's in BOLD RED and exclamation mark written...

Re: how's this lift for my 05.

Hi all. 05 Pathfinder and I am ordering coil spring spacers and don't strut spacers or at least I think that's what they are.. .... If you put spacers only under springs, spring will stiffen, ride will get less comfortable, and you will NOT gain in total extension height, as it cannot go higher tha...

I'd check AT fluid level first. If it's Ok, then I'd perform stall test: with warmed up vehicle, after a drive or so, park it, engage parking brake, keep pressing brake pedal so it does NOT move and apply gas gradually. The engine revolutions should not exceed 2700-3100 RPM when adding gas. NOTE: Th...

By "transmission problem" you mean ATF with coolant cross contamination due to leak in combined radiator? If YES, then YES (I think), because only automatic transmission has ATF fluid cooler/heater, which is combined with main engine cooler. But AFAIK European (factory in Spain) models are...

This is not speed-build rig! I have had sportscars for 20 years before I bought Pathy. Now I am so happy roaring down the highway slower and safer than most of others. But in general, to gain TOP speed, you would need to modify gearing, I think transfer case is the target for re-gearing. Change gear...

How to flush automatic transmission and change all ATF

Here's short description on how I just did ATF full flush on Jatco RE5R05A automatic transmission (2.5 dCi machine). Few facts I discovered in the process: - Nissan Pathfinder (Xterra, Navara...) transmission tend to color ATF very dark brown , but still smell more like new ATF, not burned. This see...

For those codes service manual lists the following possible reasons: ● Crankshaft position sensor (POS) ● Camshaft position sensor (PHASE) ● Intake valve timing control solenoid valve ● Accumulation of debris to the signal pick-up portion of the camshaft; this...

BTW...what about transmission FILTER, did anybody also change that? With its 16 bolts it seems more like a part, which gets replaced during rebuilt, rather than during regular maintenance.
Should I replace filter, too?

Thanx for recommendations, but I've already purchased Nissan Matic S from eBay for US$8.83/qt here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261968837229?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT And seller was kind enough to attach the transmission oil pan gasket for free, which all together ...

It all depends on how quickly cross contamination was discovered. Antifreeze in tranny causes a lot of damage, it eats friction material from clutches and rings, it eats gaskets and finally it builds up in corners with lower fluid flow. If contamination was discovered via transmission malfunction, I...

ATF fluid change when it is dark brown

Hi, I know this is over and over the similar question, but again, each symptoms are different. I need to change Automatic Transmission Fluid on my 2006 Pathfinder with 190.000km (120.000 miles) on gauge. It has been changed once in the past by previous owner, and few months ago I changed 4 quarts as...

Well, as I do not have rust nor any visible dirt in cooling system, my only consideration for flushing the system is to prevent coolant/ATF cross contamination. With other words, to prevent possible leaks in main radiator.

Just to add to the confusion, I'd like to ask a question. Switching from 4WD to 2WD while in motion is okay right? I usually do it when I get on the highway and hit around 40mph. It's OK, no problem. Just try to do it when driving straight with low engine load, not at cornering or under off-r...
