When I did mine a while back, I couldn't get the bolts off to drop the shaft either. I had a few that eventially rounded off and forced me to use a grinder to remove the heads of the bolts. It was the only way for me.

Sorry webmastir, no pics. You'll know exactly what we're talking about those if you crawl up under there. While not exactly "wires" like mentioned, they are small little bands. The bands just rust away in a certain location, and you notice by jiggling them around which ones have failed.

Well mine were the OEM clamps towards the rear as suspected. Actually they were both of the furthest aft clamps on there. Located between the exhaust tip and muffler. Both clamps of this heat shield had corroded through and came off easily by hand (since they were no longer complete circles). As Gba...

Looks like I'll be tackling this issue today as I got a loud annoying exhaust rattle as well. Sound though like mine is more towards the rear, closer to the spare tire. We'll see when I get down there and take a look.

Just changed one of my U joints, the front to be exact. Apparently this didnt fix my vibration and 60mph, and I am pretty sure its the u joints. The one I replaced was shot, so I thought it would solve the vibration, but it maybe another one that is shot and didnt see it. Does anyone now how many u...

You should be able to tell whether the problem is before the diff, or after the diff judging by the number of time per wheel rotation you hear the noise. For instance 1 noise per tire rotation = problem between diff and rubber 3-4 noises per tire rotation = likely the U-Joint, TC or driveshaft itsel...

Well it happens @ 75-80mph, so I've only felt it on the highway (straight).

Due to any real lack of noise, other then the slight droning, I too tend to think it's probably not the diff. As for the tires. I hope its that simple. Unfortunately since there are the rare times when it goes away completely, I have my doubts about tire balance. I've had some off-road trips through...

Front driveline help

Alright, here's the deal. I've replaced all 4 u-joints, front and aft. Both axles had 1 dried up seized OEM joint. No problem. But I still have this annoying vibration between 75-80mph. Also, when letting off the gas during the vibration, I hear a droning noise for like 1-2 seconds. Well I figured m...

Well it appears the problem has been resolved. Sure enough, my issue seems to have been bad rear U-joint. This is after the fact that I already replaced the front a while back. The noises got real bad today. To the point where I had to turn around on my way back from lunch, and come back home. But g...

We're getting used to it though! :D

Also, cannot say much about OME since I haven't got them, but I have heard nothing but bad news on rocky road. Just use caution.

Seems the easiest diagnostic test for me would be to remove the drive shafts one at a time, starting with the rear, and see if the noise goes away.

I've already determined that rolling backwards in Neutral does not result in hearing noise, so this may be the next obvious test.
