Re: Heater problems- won't maintain temperature

Thanks for both those replies. I did get the new sensor and it does look like a minor pain to replace. I've been looking at Chilton and the FSM to get in there- I think I'll at least take a run at replacing it. I may end up just trying to clean it.

Heater problems- won't maintain temperature

The heater has never worked 100% correctly for me. It got to the point a couple of years ago that I could only have all heat or no heat, but nothing in between. Then it got to the point where there was no heat, just outside air. The secondary coolant pump was changed back then and it seemed to kind ...

Re: Airbag light started flashing

The airbag light was coming on more frequently, so I took it to the dealership. The code it pulled up did show the spiral cable was bad. All good after about $600 out the door.

Thanks for the info Swerve. After things calm down a bit, I'll plan to take it in and get it fixed. Will post what they find. If it is that cable- kind of sounds like it from the various sources- I'll know the ballpark dollar amount.

Update- After clearing the code, it tripped again for the second time 2 days ago. I did clear it a second time and called the dealership and spoke with the service advisor who knows this car. He said they've not really seen problems with the airbags or the control units. Most often he said it's the ...

I did take smj999smj's advice and checked for recalls. There is a recall for the crash zone sensor for the airbags, but is only for vehicles in high road salt usage states (long list). Other states got a warranty extension to 10 years. My VIN showed nothing. disallow- It's good to know that there ar...

Airbag light started flashing

Driving on freeway and airbag light just started flashing. There has been no electrical work at all (in more than a year) and it's been driven very little lately. Car was restarted a few times but it continued to blink. I used the procedure in an old thread to reset it, which worked. I'll see if it ...

Aries- That's an exact description of what I have in my '08. It sounds like it's coming from behind the upper glove box area, sort of where the passenger airbag is. I do sometimes get it at lower speeds too. Mine sounds like a plastic butt connector on a wiring harness which is touching, or near to,...

I work for a large industrial chemical company and was told through our national network that spraying battery terminal protectant (the stuff sprayed on the terminals when installing a new battery to prevent corrosion) prevents rats from chewing on hoses and wiring. This came from mechanics in cold ...

I have to agree with the hood latch folks here. My squeak sounded like it was coming from the back. Drove me nuts. When I was at the dealer, I brought it up to my service writer (who was a wrencher for many years first). He said they get this complaint all the time. Told me to put a little electrica...

I did notice there are 2 different sets of numbers posted in 2 different places in this thread. I don't remember which I used. Both are quoted below: Set 1) From RacerZX "The engine cover skid plate is part number 50842-ESPFR and lists for $14.72.  The transfer case cover skid plate is part nu...

The AWD or "Auto" mode transfer case came on the "LE" models only. My 2008 "SE" has the AWD/Auto mode. I think it's because of the V8. I've had 2 '08 V8 SE's (totaled the 1st one) and they both had this set-up. Both had the same options as the "LE" except for...

I called my local dealership and read the parts guy the part numbers listed in one of the previous posts in this thread. I did ask him for internet pricing and he said yes (whatever that discount might have been). The prices were really close to what RacerZX lists in the original post (and that was ...

I know this is an old post but- after something hit the underside on the freeway pretty hard, I decided to put these on. Your pics helped with orientation and location. It did speed things up! Thanks! Feel better knowing they're helping at least a little, especially on the fuel tank. After my fiasco...

Just a reminder to folks considering one of these radiators that they don't fit in the V8.
