Wouldn't that have caused overheating though? Never had an issue with that

Coolant leak question

I have an '09 SE with a Calsonic ZL11A radiator from which I hear is a less likely radiator to fail? I have noticed a faint coolant smell at times outside the vehicle. I looked around the radiator on top for a leak but couldn't see anything noticeable. I opened the coolant holding tank and a noticed...

Are the Catalytic Converters under warranty?

I cant find much info on this. My '09 is currently at 75,000 miles and recently had a rattle sound coming from underneath when driving only to find what looks like my passenger side cats had a dime sized hole in it. I thought I read somewhere that these are covered under a 8yr/80k warranty? This tru...

why did your by-pass "let go"? if you lost that much fluid (near 50%) and the truck came to a stop as a result, there is the likelihood of damage to the transmission. if you are going to do a "wait & see", I'd recommend doing it with the correct fluid (or equivalent). One of...

Transmission bypass hose came apart

Today my transmission bypass let go and poured transmission all over the road causing my vehicle to not move as if it was in neutral. Ended up having it towed to my grandfather's garage and put it up on the lift and reconnected the tubes back together. Just a total shitshow. Picked up 5 quarts of Am...

Thanks for the replies. I'm sure I'm over 4000# loaded, and I believe my hitch weight is a bit heavy, probably over 600#. However I'm using a weight distribution hitch and sway control. I've noticed on some hills this thing does struggle a bit but I expected that.

V6 - Best to tow in what gear?

What's our best towing gear? My model is not equipped with O/D and I've been towing my 3600# camper a lot this summer and just seeing how everyone else tows. I've been leaving it in 4th mostly unless I approach a hill where I kick it into 3rd to gain some power. I've talked to others who seem to kee...

Is the bypass safe to do for towing?

Going to be towing a decent amount this summer, each trip probably a couple hundred miles or so. Is it safe to do so for towing? Is there enough cooling for the transmission after the bypass?

Thanks

I took mine out for a ride this weekend to get a feel of it before we hit the open road. Mine is a 2011 Jayco Jay Feather X19H. The Pathfinder towed it pretty good, definitely knew it was there but didn't seem to bog down at all and pulled it with no issues, up and down hills. http://s10.postimg.or...

Did you check the exhaust heat shields? I had a similar problem and noticed the stock clamps rusted off.

Yeah those guys at RV.NET think you need a 3 tonne dually diesel to pull a pop-up trailer. I'm all for being conservative, but I'm not going to buy a ridiculous truck just to pull my camper a half dozen times a year. Stay within the limits on the door plate, and all will be fine. Same with us, we a...

I posted this on RV.NET and the 1st reply was "I wouldnt do it"

Towing a 2011 Jay Feather 19H with a 2009 SE V6

Any worries here? Most towing will be 2 hour trips from northern Massachusetts to the White Mountain Region in New Hampshire. Not a ton of large up hill roads, mostly long inclines and 90% of the travel will be highway. Weight Distribution Hitch and Sway bars needed? Ive seen this exact vehicle towi...
