So, I had some success last night! The pair of 2.125" pipes fit with a min of .5" clearence on all sides. There will be an extra long slip joint in both of these, a 2.00" pipe will slide in each to a depth of about 12", allowing lots of clamping area. Now, if only my spare was mo...

Update(ed), weighed my subframe crossover options...

Using the search function here, I was sort of surprised, sort of not, that I didn't see anyone trying custom exhausts. I am not surprised that people shy away from this god awful rear sub frame arrangement. The questions: -Has anyone been able to snake a bigger pipe through there? -Does the V8 oem e...

All designed, materials bought months ago... and no time to get started. I've been remodeling instead.

I did end up making a bolt-on kayak rack that holds 4.[/img]

Ahh I'm familiar. That's something that is definitely not happening on my LE. So it's either malfunctioning.... or I haven't got it turned on?

These are all kinda stupid questions because I'm kind of a stupid person. lol

Thanks for the lead. Am I correct in reading that my 2012 has an R200 rear Diff?
How about the front?

Any simple LSD for the rear? Better than nothing at this point.

Nearly got stuck, need a sanity check, maybe some education

Yesterday we were at the beach, during a gale, sand dunes blowing across the lot. I drove through in 2wd and came to a stop. Popped it into 4LO, and continued to just spin one wheel. it finally dug thorugh the sand, hit pavement, and off I went. Now I'm looking ahead to winter with this pig, haunted...

Got the first plate cut and fit. 56,000psi yield on the material, I should be able to put a rock on my jack and use this plate to lift the nose. ;)

I'll make a turtle shell for the diff, next.

I'll see what I can do about being a Guinea Pig. Skid Plate may have just become moot, though. I found that I've got enough material from my Subaru's skid plate to cover both my engine and transmission. 1/4" thick 7075 aluminum. A 24" x 12" unsupported span took the Outbacks weight wi...

Oh so it's just the facia and bumper supports? The plastic stuff, plus fenders? I was thinking the radiator support structure had moved.

Nuts! I suppose this has a negative effect on approach angles, too? That's a pretty big engineering move just to accommodate an engine option that they made so few of.

Very good info, smj, thanks!

Skid Plate compatibility?

There seems to be a pretty big market for Xterra's and Frontiers. The ladder frame and drivetrain are the same as our, minus the IRS.

Will Xterra/Frontier skid plates fit the R51? How about Pre-Runner front bumpers?

Resurrecting this thread: Has anyone seen or heard of someone replacing the rack assembly as a whole? In the old outback I just replaced, I started with a Rolla and liked it. however, the weight basket ate up almost 20% of my load carrying ability AND killed 5mpg off my highway. I sold the Rolla and...

New guy, 2012 LE

New Guy from Cincinnati. Went on a search for an Xterra, found the R51 was similar yet better on long road trips, and here I am. I've already had it on a 2200mi jaunt to Texas, and we're heading to the U.P. in 2 weeks. I intend to increase this things capability as much as I can, I'll have plenty of...

Tips when shopping for an R51?

I mis-posted this in the wrong forum, great first impression! After much reading and test driving, my next car is highly likely to be a 2012 Pathfinder LE or Silver, when I can find something with low miles. I'm coming out of an Outback that I put 200,000 rough miles on, and no one makes anything li...

Snot, you're absolutely right! I suppose reading comprehension would be a good skill to have before buying a vehicle. :)

Thanks!
