Weaver, thanks for weighing in on this. Glad to hear about your experience and fix. Not sure how the hoses function. It is my (limited) understanding that, at least on most vehicles, they are supposed to function based on gravity alone and that may be part of the reason for the clogging. I am NOT po...

I put these on about 5k-10k miles ago. Only difference I've noticed is if I slam on the brakes the truck stops a little quicker. For daily driving, not really a big difference. If anything, they look cool on there. I am going to get the Goodridge brake lines though, but in due time. https://preview...

I just did the pads about an hour ago, and drove about 50 km. World of difference, but I'm not surprised based on the level of wear on the old ones. Took off what appeared to be oem nossan pads, and swapped for premium oe ceramics from napa. Just under $200 cdn for front and back ($120 - front, $80...

Best Current Pad, Rotor, and Line Choices

Hi Everyone, Let's try to list all the best current brake part choices we can in a single thread, I think it would be very helpful! (I did not find a thread similar to this one. If there is, please let me know and I will delete. Thanks!) I'm going to be replacing my brakes soon, and I'd like to get ...

Just came across all this, and it's great info! A few questions about the brake upgrade: 1) Any issues with stability/traction control systems, ABS, etc.? 2) Has anyone come across any other 'gotchas' after upgrading? 3) I don't know to what degree, if any, brake proportioning concerns would play a ...

McMac - Thanks for weighing in on this, especially with experience from the Northwest and multiple vehicles. Terry - Very good point. First off, my apologies for the VERY late reply to both of your messages! I'm calling this one solved. Here's what ended up being the fix for me... 1) On an unseasona...

I couldn't rule out the master cylinder, but personally (anyone else certainly feel free to chime in here), with the symptoms you're describing, I wouldn't view the master cylinder as the most likely culprit. I'd start with replacing the fluid and thoroughly bleeding the brakes so that there is no a...

Agreed. Everything I've read indicates that brakes are not the Pathy's strong suit, and I would agree. They're not terrible, but they're no racing setup for sure. But, a correctly done fluid change with thorough bleeding after definitely firms up pedal feel and reduces sponginess. It should remove a...

smj- Thanks, good point. I wish there was a chance of that. But, no, the ATE Typ 200 Dot 4 (what I used) is a light amber. The same company used to sell a very popular fluid called Super Blue with the same specs that was, well, blue, lol. It had to be discontinued in the US because 'ATE Super Blue R...

Brake Fluid MUCH Darker AFTER Flush!?!?

Thanks in advance for any help!!! My brake fluid was a normal light amber color prior to having it changed. The fluid was in the vehicle for at least 1 year. Had a flush done by my very trustworthy mechanic. I provided the fluid (new, sealed can of ATE Typ 200 Dot 4). I picked the Pathy up and dropp...

Found out for myself. :-) Couldn't find the spec for brake fluid capacity in the owner's manual or Haynes manual. (Maybe it's in the factory service manual? I wasn't able to check.) Anyway, 1 liter or quart is plenty, with some left over for good measure. (1 liter = 33.814 fluid ounces/1 quart = 32 ...

You'll probably have to get some info from a later model owner about that. Earlier models like mine (I believe 2008 was the cutoff, but don't quote me on that.) don't have TPMS info displayed other than a warning light. Also, sounds like you have a nav screen? In the meantime, maybe check around the...

AZPath - That's the thing, it's not wet anywhere, just musty smelling. If I get more desperate, I'll start looking, lol. Fortunately, the smell is only present if the sunroof shade is open! Otherwise, it's totally smell-free, even if you put your nose right up by the sunroof shade as long as the sha...

Welcome, Robert! Definitely jealous of the diesel engines and manual trans options non-US Pathfinders can have! Sorry about your head unit acting up. Don't know a fix for it myself, maybe try posting here: http://www.thenissanpath.com/viewforum.php?f=35.
