Just happened to be browsing this forum and I am no expert but......

That timing gear all looks too good and tight to have jumped so much or have tensioners etc been replaced? Are there no marks on anything to give guidance as to alignment?

That's very useful information I will have a look. I have found the Consult 3. Could you suggest a reasonable alternative or laptop or tablet (Android) interface please?. I am not familiar with car diagnostic electronics. Problem is, I would ideally like to be able to lock and unlock the diff at will.

Hi Just thought I would post an update. I got the vehicle recovered to a specialist transmission place who replaced Clutch plate, thrust bearing, cover and dual mass flywheel at quoted price of £512 plus 20% VAT (Sales Tax) They also serviced the vehicle and carried out the compulsory annual Ministr...

As I understand it from this thread, the front and rear differentials don't "Lock" is that correct only the centre diff I us that correct? I want to create an override so that I can use Lo ratio at low speed without any diffs locked. Possible or not do people think? I will have a look at t...

Got the vehicle recovered to the garage today. Mechanic said clutch on it was about a 4 hour job. We will see.

I don't know. If it comes in at the price I have been quoted it can't be that much as I would have thought parts were half of that. You have got me worried now.

Quoted repair cost £512 plus sales tax using a LUK Clutch (Part of the Schaefler group) about $780. That's for clutch, cover, plate, thrust bearing, dual mass flywheel and fitting. No I haven't checked that but deterioration was instantaneous. I am sure clutch is cooked.
