The knock sensor won't cause a drivability concern, but the MAP sensor would and could cause the engine to run in a way that triggers the knock sensor. Perfect thank you! I'll swap out the MAP sensor and hope that fixes it! I'll keep the knock sensor I bought just in case it needs to be changed eve...

Thanks Jetstream87, this is the information I need about the vehicle. The only thing I am not sure about is whether the Canadian border service agency will accept the website as legitimate. When I called they told me I need a way of proving this information officially. Would anyone know where to fi...

There's a gear at the bottom of the rotor, so when you pull up on the distributor, the rotor is going to turn. You can use a Sharpie or crayon or touch-up paint to make alignment marks. Make one on the distributor housing showing where the rotor is pointing and another one to help you get the corre...

On the VG33E, the crank position sensor in the transmission bellhousing is a monitoring sensor for the ECM and it has no affect on drivability. If the starter cranks without any difficulty, if the battery and charging system test good and the battery cables connections are clean and tight, I would ...

P0335 and P1336

A few months ago (March) I had a problem with my car in which I had the code P1336. The car was stalling/rough idling, the mechanic told me that it was the cranck sensor located in the bellhousing, it was changed but still the same problem persisted. Then the distributor was changed and bam the car ...

Symptoms of a bad steering R&P include leaks, no power assist in one or in both directions. If you are hearing a clicking noise, I would be looking at the axles that were just installed or for a bad hub (usually clicking occurs on the good hub when one of the hubs is bad). I would take it back ...

Did you check to see if the rack assembly is moving when you turn the wheel? If it is then it might explain some of your symptoms. I took it to a shop today and it turns out that on the left side there is a piece of metal that was screwed on in which on the right side it doesn't have that metal at ...

Streering question

This weekend I got the mechanic to replaced my shocks, struts, turned my rotors, and replaced my axles. We made the discovery that both axles were broken in which they came out but in pieces. Now my car makes a clicking sound when I turned to the right, can it be the Rack and pinion going bad? The s...

Yes. It's best to stick with genuine Nisaan or at least the original equipment manufacturer, which is typically Hitachi or Mitsubishi when it come to cam and crank sensors. The sensor can be component tested using an ohmmeter; the factory service manual will have the specs in the engine control cha...

Your friends are wrong about the crank position sensor on the bellhousing. As I said, it is only a monitoring sensor for the ECM. It does not affect drivability. It states so in the service manual. Are Nissan picky about the sensors like spark plugs? I got the sensor from Autozone in which I am uns...

It might be a starter, or you still have a charging system incident. Just because a part is "new," doesn't always mean it's good, especially when dealing with aftermarket parts. Or, the alternator may be good, but the battery could be weak, battery cable connections could be poor or corro...
