Quick google search revealed that the amp is under the drivers seat, which is easy, but I'm not sure yet if it's powering the subs

Thanks - I've read differing opinions on whether there is a separate amp for the sub in the Bose system, or whether it's one central amp powering all the speakers. When I find out for sure, I'll post here

Where is the Bose amp?

I bought a powered sub, now I'm planning how to wire it in. It accepts high or low level inputs, so I'm debating whether to take the signal from the speaker wires going into the current little subs, or maybe from the low level inputs to the Bose amp. Does Bose do anything weird to the bass signal go...

So after a couple of weeks with both front speakers replaced, I have to call this swap a success. While it's not a life changing improvement, it is definitely a much more complete sound - no longer lacking crucial guitar and drum sounds. The "hollow" effect is gone. I guess I have it turne...

Update - I got the JBL 2.3 ohm 6x9s and installed one, on the drivers side. That was so I can flip back and fore from one side to the other to compare the JBL with the stock Bose woofer. So far it seems like there is less bass, but better clarity and more sounds from the jbl. It's not quite as loud....

Sorry for reviving an old thread, but I'm curious. Where IS the amp for the subs? Any idea of specs? I know the two little subs are 1 ohm each, would I be correct in thinking they are wired in series for a 2ohm load? Also, does it have a gain knob? That may seem like a really hopeful question, but I...

The subwoofer speakers are 1-ohm but the door speakers are 2-ohm. I would think your speakers would work in the doors just fine at 2.3-ohm. Excellent! Thanks - I think I'll give them a shot Ordered. I'll report back once they're installed. Fingers crossed this works out - they're two way coaxial 6x...

Cheers - it's a recurring issue with factory premium stereos, and with Bose in particular. They are not easy to customize, due to odd speaker sizes, usually very low impedance, HU integration with other functions, etc. Bose releases zero info on the specs of their hardware, so I have no idea how muc...

Any successes swapping out Bose speakers in R51?

I just picked up a very clean 2010 Pathfinder, and I'm really liking the truck so far. The Bose stereo is a little "blah" though. Vocals are too prominent, not much guitar and bass guitar. On my wife's previous Mazda CX-9 with Bose, we got a good improvement by simply swapping out the stoc...

I hear you on the +/- of adding a cooler. I had originally asked my mechanic to simply do the bypass, and rely on the existing cooler, but the words "is not enough" won the day. I've read a whole lot of the definitive thread - bypass, replace the radiator with an aftermarket model, add a c...

Just dropped off the truck with my mechanic. He was pretty insistent that the way to go is to add an external atf cooler kit, in front of the radiator. He said that the stock external cooler is "not enough", and since the kit is about $60, and his labor is very reasonable, I'm going with h...

I have contacted my mechanic (who I know all too well from the endless issues with the Nissan X-Trail I have been driving), and he is familiar with the radiator issue, and the fixes. He will be doing the bypass for me Thursday or Friday. If I was back in the US where labor is expensive, and I had to...

Just checked the radiator - 21460 ZL11A. That's the one that's not confirmed to have problems I think. Which leaves me with uncertainty. Do we know if there's a definitive list of good/bad parts?

Thanks- great info Dont forget to take lots of pics and post them for us here. I am sure may members would be interested to see a Pathy in such a exotic ( to us) environment as you described. :D Will do! One of our first off-roadish trips will be from Tulum to Punta Allen, along a rough trail road ...
