Stuff I've replaced or fixed

Not complaining, but I just donated to Nissan again and was mentally tallying the list of everything that's been changed on my Pathfinder. This is Nissan #5 for me and I've never, ever had repair issues like this. Excluding stuff that's normal wear and tear like shocks, or the damage from my deer-ki...

If I weren't running out of time in the US, I'd think about it! I'm leaving the country in June though so I don't have many free weekends. I can offer advice and maybe help get you started though. It's really not hard, the most time consuming part is removing all of the plastic bits. After a while y...

I am 95% sure it's your A/C compressor turning on and off. This is normal. If you're really worried about it, open the hood and see whether the plate on the front of the compressor spins when you hear the engine "lugging." It's on the left side of the engine and driven by the fan belt. You...

Oh...I should add that if I had a subwoofer like the Bose system behind one of the rear quarter panel plastic things, I would damp that cavity like mad. Mostly seal it but leave some breathing ports away from the cone itself like an actual subwoofer compartment...

Nice write up. Looks like you took some time to do this. How long would you say it took? Each door took three or four hours. Getting them apart the first time took some figuring out, and then completely sealing them took some work. I did one a night spread out over a few weeks. Did the front two pr...

I'm not completely sure how much I used since some of it was leftover "pro" damplifier that weight 0.6 lbs/sq ft from the Sentra and some of it was new material that weighs 0.35 lbs/sq ft. If I had to guess I'd say I've used 120-140 sq ft and added roughly sixty pounds of rubber and twenty...

Sound damping and insulation in the Pathfinder

Something that's always annoyed me about my Nissans is how loud they are compared to their competitors. It's never stopped me from buying them (five out of six have been Nissan/Infiniti, with one Honda foisted upon me by my dad), but man...my last Sentra made it difficult to hold a conversation on t...

I think I need to look into the bushings on the sway bar. When i'm driving highway speeds and go over a bump the whole truck just wobbles side to side and it is so bad that if I didn't hold onto the steering wheel, the truck would loose control for sure. Even if I turn the wheel side to side, it st...

Part of the U joint replacement in the service manual is checking the shaft for straightness...I think now I know why! Doubt it's the after market U joint, especially since the stockers aren't such awesome pieces of equipment anyway and I think nearly all U joints in Ameria come from just a couple o...

Hey guys, Is it possible to get the rear driveshaft out of balance after replacing u-joints. Everyhtiung is marked and went back in the same way, but not it gets a high-frequency vibration/resonance. definitely was not this bad before the u-joints were replaced. Yes...I went through this with the f...

I still think its a grounding or short in that speaker's cable, or the head unit itself. The stereo still gets power when the key is on so things can be live. Can you take the door panels off, or at least inspect the wiring at the door jam? Does the noise change if you wiggle or move the wires? (Try...

Oh, one more thing. Now that I think about it, there has been one or two times where I left the truck out in really hard rain and a tweeter didn't sound right afterwards. Some minor clipping out.

It did sound fine the next day after drying out fully so I've never really looked for it.

Mmmm...don't know that I would do that. The ECU doesn't really have much to do with the stereo wiring (doesn't plug into it anywhere). And if you successfully mind wipe it you may have to do an idle air learn (page EC-77 in the service manual). See my thread on how much fun that experience can be :?

They just did idle air learning, but with CONSULT instead of the pedal-dance procedure in the manual. Not really a deployment, it's a one year PCS and involves a three bedroom villa with air conditioning 8) My dad also lives nearby so it's kind of a deal or me. If it were possible to take the Pathfi...
