I'm confused... Shell Helix Diesel Ultra 5W-40 Shell Helix Ultra 5W-40 Shell Helix HX7 C 5W-40 All this oils are for diesels too. And which one is OK for Pathfinder 2.5 Dci 126kW ? Smarty, I'd go with the Mobil 1 synthetic 5W-40. I don't have the diesel manual here in the US to see what it sa...

Here's some food for thought, and by all means post your thoughts on the matter. One of the Xterra forums has a thread talking about the stock air filter & housing. In short, if you remove the filter housing lid/cover & the air filter, you'll see a plastic pipe jutting out into the housing....

Suspension is the same. But when the stock shocks are gone, man...are they gone. And they're not very good to begin with. That's probably what you noticed.

Smarty, I've never seen Mobil 1 synthetic lose an independent test. That being said all the synthetics are pretty good for the average user. If your spec calls for "diesel" oil stick with that. The real difference though is that they've kept higher amounts of molybdenum, zinc and phosphoru...

Shell Rotella synthetic is good stuff for diesels. And motorcycle engines for that matter. Tests very well. May sell under another name in other countries...

Re: Cold air vs. Warm air

Here is a current thread discussing the difference in MPG vs. outside air temperature. With gas prices inching close to $4 / gal now and bound to go higher, those of us with limited resources are glad warmer weather is nearly here. These guys make me wish the PF would have the 6-sp MT option. An Xt...

Well, the noise is still there after a new belt and more spraying. Hard to tell if its better or not since its a subtle noise inside the cabin anyway. However I did discover that the tensioner pulley has a lot of play in it (not obvious when its tight against the belt of course) so I'll be replacing...

I do...they're not very good and I have lots of foam already holding other wires and cables in place from previous attempts to fix this, but they should give an idea of where the cables are. Here's everything opened up. You actually can't see the cables here yet. http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e1...

Just for fun I checked the website out. I'm not a fan of the robo-chat thing :? But Mr. Roboto said he could get me a Pathfinder radiator between $99 and $299 before I closed the window... Ditto... Was it "Chuck?" He said to tell you "hi," and that his "Nissan tech" is...

Fixed my dash rattle!

Surely this is going to afflict someone else, so after two years of many attempts to find it I thought I'd share. Around 2900 RPM I've had this horrible dash buzzing/rattle...sounds like something wants to come apart somewhere in the center-ish of the dash. If it were at a high RPM that would be one...

My mileage drops a 1-2 mpg when I use 87. The engine also runs a little rougher above 3,000 RPM and definitely feels like the ECM has dialed it back a bit. Normally an engine designed for 87 will run very slightly better on 87 due to higher energy content and there shouldn't be any advantage to prem...

Just tried spraying the clutch with MAF cleaner. Not entirely sure but it may have been temporarily better. (It may also have been the spray hitting the belt...but I'm replacing that this weekend anyway.) Got the engine hot while finally fixing my dash rattle, so I didn't want to try spraying again....

Oh, the tensioner does move a bit when the compressor switches on and vibrates more...is that normal on these? Belt remains tight and I have no belt squeal or anything other people have changed tensioners for. Hard to tell with the auto stethoscope but it sounds like the noise is located closer to t...

Is the droning noise kind of mid to high pitched? I did have several recharges by Nissan when I had my radiator issue (a/c was switching on and off, culprit was a plugged radiator but they chased a/c problems for a week first) but it was making this noise before that. They did a full drain and refil...
