Engine smokes when going up hill

So its a 2005 v6 auto tranny with less than 125k miles. Never had an issue, we do not live in an area with really steep terrain but are on a trip in the south with inclines of greater than 7 to 15 percent. When we go up these steep inclines it starts smoking and smelling like engine oil burning. Whe...

Re: Issue installing electric trailer brake wiring kit 2005 Pathy SE

For this cable, this appears to be the wiring to the car, IE what is on each PIN.

The link to the manual shows the manual is a small window and too small for my eyes to see and zooming in makes it hard to navigate.

Re: Issue installing electric trailer brake wiring kit 2005 Pathy SE

Ok so it appears I did not check my order when I created it closely, it was a kit with controller and adapter cable FOR a Nissan pathy. But now looking at the order part number specifically it appears the adapter cable is for a FORD. These are what I have: https://www.etrailer.com/Trailer_Brake_Cont...

Re: Issue installing electric trailer brake wiring kit 2005 Pathy SE

Hi thanks and I agree, so I ordered the controller and the adapter pig tail for the Pathy from eTrailer.com (I think).

Ill look up the items I ordered and provide a link, considering they provided the wrong wiring setup for the relays the pigtail could also be wrong.

Re: Issue installing electric trailer brake wiring kit 2005 Pathy SE

Hi good point I didn't try pushing on the brake and moving, think I could just push the brake on lever on the ebrake controller to activate the trailer brakes and try moving the vehicle to see if they are activated?

Re: Issue installing electric trailer brake wiring kit 2005 Pathy SE

Hi so I followed the doc you shared and the two relays are installed (I remember the mechanic saying he bought some to install. I also see the fuses and other relays are already installed. I tested it and what I am experiencing is the trailer brakes are ON all the time. As soon as I hooked it up and...

Re: Issue installing electric trailer brake wiring kit 2005 Pathy SE

Hi can you clarify? SO on the left (Drivers) side I did find a connector to connect the electric brake controller to, that is connected. I am having an issue finding where to connect the electric brake relay pigtail. The instructions said it is under the right (passenger) side front kick panel. Than...

So I got this kit which it says its for a 2005 Pathfinder and it has a wiring pigtail with a couple relays on it that is supposed to connect to an open connector behind the front passenger kick panel. I pulled that panel off and could not find an available connector. I unfortunately then asked my me...

Re: Issue with Passenger front power window

Hi so thanks for your help. Unfortunately my mechanic I mentioned earlier who assisted me in installing the electric trailer brake setup screwed me. So the wiring connector FROM the door for the electric window was plugged into the trailer wiring addon pigtail with relays on it! Yes it went no where...

Re: Issue with Passenger front power window

Hi again thanks for your help. So first the white/red has no power with the key on, I tested my ground I used and it's good. Second both the green/yellow and blue/white have no connectivity to ground, fully open. This makes me think there is a connector just undone?. I will say this past winter I at...
