Autoline Smoke Machine - hunt for leaks

Decided to purchase the Autloline Smoke Evap Machine (Economy Series) after some research. Bought from Amazon. I tend to get bored and I tend to overthink issues, but, I also am interested in tools that I could use to detect issues. I've sensed that Ive had something going on with my exhaust recentl...

Clockspring Repair - $20

Finally completed my little project of adding a heated steering wheel. For my 2005, this was quite a bit of work, as the 05 never had this option, and there was no pre-wiring of any kind. Everything had to be repinned except the steering angle sensor which I transferred over. I used the excellent po...

Re: Rear Swaybar/Subframe

Something to consider. 1. There are specialists around that shops hire to re-thread professionally something that may have had the threads ripped off. I wonder if it's the frame, or just the threads that have been damaged by an over zealous impact wrench from someone trying to secure it? Some mechan...

Good tip!

I went with the Hitachi part as well.

Rocker covers. Now you have me thinking I should order them in while stocks last! I've been fortunate that I've used Car-part for updating (using Frontiers). I was able to secure a whole front end rebuild (control arms, knuckles with hubs) on a 2019 vehicle with 3k miles on it - $300 CAD. Parts were...

Re: Fuel Trim on an '07 Pathfinder?

I'm nota master tech by any means, but I think my points below are correct, A low voltage in S2 could simply mean an extended lean condition, with a failing A/F sensor, too. You would see this in trim data where the LTFT would have long negatives, while your A/F sensor is stating it's in stoich bala...

P1274 A/F Ratio Sensor - rough idle

I had purchased in 2020 new Denso A/F sensors to replace the Bosch ones. I must say that my knowledge of systems in particular to emissions was very low and it could be stated that I was a parts changer, at that time. These codes always seems to present a challenge, as you start to wonder if it's a ...

Re: New Toyota Trucks, looks like...old Nissan R51

Interesting comment on parts being discontinued.

I've been fortunate so far. I've been able to find any wear item, suspension component and exhaust.
Maybe a major component is harder to find?

Parts I worry about are the ones attached to the rear cradle at this point.

New Toyota Trucks, looks like...old Nissan R51

Well. Seeing the new Landcruiser debut, makes me think that what's old, is new again. The 1958 Edition comes with cloth seats, and rounded headlights. Rumours of mid 50s starting price which is impressive considering how impossible these were for many to obtain for many years. The ole R51 looks ok b...

Re: Camshaft position sensor

Amazingly, my 2005 developed this code couple of days ago. It Stumbled on the highway, kicking off my cruise control, a couple of bucks on shifting. I thought it was going to throw me into a limp mode. Swapped out the part with the Hitachi (CPS0008). Easy swap, actually, though that damn connector g...

Re: Best place for an alignment

Make sure you shop.

I get my local Nissan dealer always on an alignment special. They also offer to wash your car afterwards (up here) which is handy.
