Re: Engine Fan running

I had my cooling fan running even after getting off the road on non-aggressive driving. I'm wondering if you notice that your temperature might peak for a few seconds - and then go back to normal? This happened to me, and I only saw it when stopped a drive-thru for coffee. It spikes for a couple of ...

Actually, in that photo, the white looks pretty sleek! Nice job.

Re: Rear End Feels Unstable

I would bet it's a blown shock in the rear.
This would cause it to be uneven, wallow. One side is absorbing, the other is not?
It actually happened to my year old Bilstein. Seized.

It's an easy check to take them both off and see if they return to position at the relative rate.

I'm wondering if there was an aha moment to this interesting issue?

Re: Any high mileage R51's out there with little problems?

We should really change this to include high engine hours (how to get that information of the computer?). Pretty sure some folks drive in the city and the mileage could appear meek compared to some of the nomads here :) That being said - it's impressive to see what mileage folks put on these R51s ov...

Re: Crappy Nissan battery.

Had to replace an Everstart after one year. Went to Walmart and they replaced it. Only time it gurgles is when it's below -20 DegC and I've left it sitting for a couple of days. Walmart's are plentiful, so it's an easy return, and the stores hours are open later. Could come in handy on a bad day whe...

If you choose to do so, if you perform the bypass, the risk is eliminated.

Re: 2008 Pathfinder w/275k miles

Thanks for the link! Do yourself right. Take it to a mechanic and have an inspection done. If the owner balks, then walk away. I mean it. Anyone that cared for the vehicle would have no problem. If a green light is given, you'd be in a better position to know. Looks like an okay deal in that area fo...

Re: 2008 Pathfinder w/275k miles

$$$ add up in a hurry on small things. Rear tires being worn - seized rear alignment bolts? Maybe not in Texas. a. I would get a compression check on something with that many miles. b. the timing chain job - if never done - may cost as much as the truck. If I had to do it again, I know for a fact th...

Re: Steering Wheel Off track?

Interesting! I certainly don't want to have you chasing to no end. if it were me, and I was bored...this is just for information more than anything. I'm not saying to do this or that...but... Mark points where the steering rack is attached, to the frame. Maybe around the three connecting bolts. Some...

Test Derive: Honda Passport and Jeep Grand Cherokee

Bored, I decided to test drive these two vehicles back to back at the dealerships nearby yesterday Thinking that these are two vehicles that would represent something size wise to the R51. Not to get excited, these are just test drives for "in the future decisions. Honda Passport: I must say, H...

Re: Steering Wheel Off track?

Makes sense..when you state it. Those are three of the biggest bolts on the truck for a reason. I'm stuck trying to imagine how it slips out of position, keeps the position under load. I would figure every bump would self correct the wheel back. The idea was to go under the truck, have it started by...

Re: Steering Wheel Off track?

I must have typed and deleted three possibilities while doing this. Deleting after thinking it through. What gets to me, is the steering continues to be dead-on, but the wheel is off C. This has to be a seized tie rod. Has to be.... Would think anything else would be constantly loose and cause wande...

Re: Oil recommendations?

A compression test of cylinders will tell you the health, really. I've used a number of brands and have been happy. For Oil Filters, I've ordered the least expensive "good ones" from RockAuto. I've researched these through BITOG, and they all come up as very good. I usually order 4 at a ti...
