Re: Front wheel bearing 4wd vs Awd

I'm the king of car recyclers, and it's obviously not for everyone. I have almost 100k now, on my front hubs from a donor 2018 Frontier, that had 15K mile on it. They were 100% perfect and installation is almost as easy as replacing the hub. They are still perfect. I paid $50 ($100 CAD for both) for...

New 4 Runner

Something that I've been eyeing for some time, is the release of the latest version of the 4Runner. My first impression is that they did very little with it, but I have myself wondering if I really want a 4 cylinder in an SUV of this size. Nonetheless, this is a good vehicle. The interior room does ...

Re: J-48761 Timing Chain and Tensioner Work Coming

One thing I would recommend replacing while the front cover is off is the oil galley cover plate gasket on the front of the rear timing cover. Z1 Off-road sells a kit with improved gaskets and new bolts. The cover gaskets tend to blow-out on these engines and cause low oil pressure at idle and can ...

Re: J-48761 Timing Chain and Tensioner Work Coming

Wow! Return of a Legend! It's all buttoned up now and purring along. I did everything I could. 1. Checked and recheck spark plugs. 2.Check the ignition coils/boots - all excellent shape. Decided to replace the #1 coil anyway since it's the pain. 3. Took out the fuel injectors and cleaned them and in...

Re: LED Projector Headlights

Already have the modern LED projector foglights and they are worlds better. Do tell. What did you install? I have the projector style headlights on mine and I went with the Philips Ultinon. There are small dark spots compared to the original reflectors, but the visibility is better. I've grown used...

Re: 2012 Alternator >> 2005 Pathfinder

2010+ Alternator fit - but does not fit. The "o'clock" position on MY05 mattered vs the 2010+ Installs ok on the engine. Cabling is the issue. The battery cable connection on the alternator, and wiring harness down through to the starter, interfered with the power steering pump mounting. F...

Re: J-48761 Timing Chain and Tensioner Work Coming

I've never seen one jump if there were no oil problems in the cover and it was dry-cranked first. Watch your oil pressure on a scanner and keep dry-cranking for 15~20 seconds after it maxes out. Then install the fuse and let it fire. :D Well to be honest, it was my mistake. I had everything loosene...

Re: 2012 Alternator >> 2005 Pathfinder

I can't speak to the mechanical aspect, but if it does fit in the hole then it should work fine. Electrically they're identical.
Thank you!

2012 Alternator >> 2005 Pathfinder

Question for those that may know the difference. The 2005-2007 R51 has a different alternator number, than from 2008-2012 From what I see, there are two differences: 1. the manufacturer change that occurred from Hitachi to Valeo. 2. There is a rear clock position difference, from 9 o'clock, to 10 o'...

Re: J-48761 Timing Chain and Tensioner Work Coming

This is the process I used. Project is ongoing. I did have one issue. The bank 1 EXH sprocket sprang out of alignment when I touched it a little. Unexpected! Second issue I had, that I as torqued the sprockets, I expected the chain tension to hold them - it didn't. I had to basically put everything ...

Re: J-48761 Timing Chain and Tensioner Work Coming

20 hours - what a marathon! That is truly fortune smiling on you, on finding out the tensioner was faulty. I'm scheduling it for this weekend after getting the remaining parts in from Nissan. I wonder if you took any pictures of the innerds? It's one of, if not the most interesting things, I'm wonde...

Re: Rear lift Gate Hatch

Assuming you have inspected the mounting and tried adjustments. Is the beige slider piece, not the white plastic piece, inside the latch housing intact. Not cracked or split/broken? I think some have reported or I've seen posts elsewhere, where folks have seen this split. If it is, latch needs to be...

Re: New stereo with Apple Carplay

Nice! This unit looks like a good value. I looked up the LRV feature on this. Looks interesting. Compared to my older XAV-AX100 unit, these are really adding a ton of technology. I'm fortunate that Android Auto has pushed as many updates as they have, to keep up to these new head units, as much poss...

Re: 2012 Pathfinder losing power under acceleration: V6

My Mistake!!

This fella found it in a Nissan Frontier, but it's my mistake.

Not the PNP, it's the stop lamp switch. Claims no codes, etc. Broken tail lamp.
