Re: ELECTRICAL Troubles

With the new 270 Amp Alternator, I am running 1/0 Cable from the Battery + to the Alternator, along with the Engine to chassis ground and Battery to Chassis Ground. I do not have an upgraded ground cable running from the alternator to the frame so maybe that could possibly help as well. The OE grou...

Re: ELECTRICAL Troubles

If it's in the wiring and not the alternator, you can use voltage drop to find out where your problem is. See this post in Nico: https://forums.nicoclub.com/post6817410.html The post talks about ground quality, but resistance problems in the power wiring can be traced the same way. There will be mor...

Re: Manual push petrol cap mechanisms stopped working

Your pics don't show the release pawl at the rear of the door, but there will be a nylon pawl that pops out and latches the door. The cable is usually spring-loaded at the lever and that's what pushes the pawl back out. A seized or broken cable is usually the culprit for what you're seeing, but the ...

Re: ELECTRICAL Troubles

Also told me that my Aftermarket alternator is outputting too much voltage at 15V or Higher. The voltage set point on my 270 Amp alternator is 14.8 but it increases as I drive down the road. That's pretty much a regulation failure even at 14.8V. There's no good reason to pump more than about 14.2V ...

Re: Dead...but Alive. Lesson Learned in Nuts, Power, and how things actually work

Of all the things that could happen - the nut holding one of the power leads on the battery fuse loosened and killed half the truck in mid flight. We actually see that once or twice a year from the factory, although the later models are laid out differently and it's usually the nut on the ground ca...

Do they sell a "Stop the Moo-Goo?"
Imagine the marketing:)
I'm reminded of that kid in the Chick-Fil-A commercial pointing at the roof of the minivan and saying, "Cow...."

Just so the Moo-Goo isn't made with chicken s#%t.

Re: Oil leak = Tune Up Time

Question: Are the spark plug tube seal a common point of failure? Are they at least good enough for 1 R&R? Yes, they're a common failure point largely because the rubber loses resilience with heat and old age. If they're still pliable then you can generally get away with re-use, if they've hard...

Re: Can blinker 3-times auto be reprogrammed to 5-times?

I appreciate the offer. If it isn’t too much of a bother, would you be able to confirm please with the wiring diagrams? My Pathy is a 2011 Silver Edition Shoot, I dunno what I was thinking. The R50's are the ones with SEC's, R51's are all BCM. So on your '11 it's in the BCM firmware. Brain fart, so...

Now, I sit at close to 15 Volts at idle and around 15.2 volts when driving.
Stockers usually output around 14.2. Make sure your upgrade isn't going above 15.5, that's the area where the CANbus will begin to say, "Ouch!"

Re: ELECTRICAL Troubles

The Steering Angle Sensor (SAS) could be causing all of those except the C1110, which might be an artifact of low battery. They could also all be products of a bad ABS ground. The ABS has its own dedicated one which will cause all sorts of codes if it gets crummy or loose. You need a scan that can t...

Re: VVT Cover - anyone know the correct seals for it

What helps diagnose it is an app some Australians made called NissanDataScan II that can read the proprietary Nissan codes over OBD II. Requires either the PC version and a USB dongle, or an Android phone (not Apple) and an ELM bluetooth dongle. https://www.nisscan.com/NDSII/index.php That's fabulo...

Re: VVT Cover - anyone know the correct seals for it

As far as the seals you are asking about, I believe there are "lathe cut" seals on the "snout" that slides into the gear, itself. You usually don't have to replace them. At least that's how I remember it being, but I'm old and my memory isn't always 100%. Maybe Vstar knows what ...
