Going back to (I think) around '02, it's Federal law that the A/C is supposed to run in any defrost position, to dehumidify the incoming air. It runs at minimum and it shouldn't actually reduce your heat much unless your heater core has a problem or the mix duct isn't sealing properly. Nissan HVAC's...
I'm facing the exact same situation as you, please let me know how you handled it heardle Try unlocking the car with the driver's door cylinder. If that doesn't kill the alarm then the switch is probably shot and you need a new lock assembly. Just realized I typo'd on that previous post, should hav...
Well, the wheel can't jump ten degrees off center without something slipping splines or jumping a tooth. Theoretically it's possible for loose rack bushings or other front end parts to cause it, but that's quite a lot of misalignment. It would be very uncharacteristic for anything beyond the rack to...
It's been a very long time since I worked on an R51 steering shaft, but maybe this parts drawing can help clarify things: https://www.nissanpartsdeal.com/parts-list/2010-nissan-pathfinder/steering/steering_column.html?diagram=488_A002 Don't know what year yours is, but my recollection is that the de...
In-out isn't what you're looking for, you're looking for loose clamps on the shafts or bad u-joints, anything that can make it jump out of position rotationally, not longitudinally. Loose splined-clamps will not be obvious from just jostling or pulling on them. The torque applied by the steering whe...
The Steering Angle Sensor (SAS) is keyed to the shaft at the steering wheel, so if any of the couplings between the wheel and the rack slip, the SAS is thrown out of kilter. The ABS knows from the wheel speeds when the vehicle is going straight and which direction it's turning, so as soon as the sha...
That's not alignment, that's something shifted in your steering or suspension. First thing to check is the splined couplers on the steering shaft. If one of those gets loose then the angle of the wheel will change every time it jumps splines (which will usually happen when you cut to the lock). If t...
As long as the Water Cock is working to allow coolant flow through the heater core, it will be fine. You don't need airflow in the cabin to bleed the system.
VQ40's can sometimes get wonky leaks at the back of the upper oil pan or inside the valley that are very hard to find. Invest in a UV dye set and put a few teaspoons in the oil, the dye won't lie. Unseal that raggedy notch in the bellhousing, too. That's a drain, it isn't supposed to be sealed up.
Good to hear. Most of Nissan's blanks and switches are more stubborn than that, prying usually just breaks the pawls. Nice to hear you don't need to break anything on the old Pathies.
The FSM will tell you to pry it out with a "suitable tool" lol. The problem is (especially when they've never been removed prior), often they're so brittle that even the most cautious methods won't get it off in one piece. You're right of course that some minor modifications plus a little ...
.... oh, I think I see what you mean now.... The ol' Reach Around. So take off the cover below the steering wheel and reach around to pop out the blanks (?) No, I thought you meant the switch bank to the left of the wheel. But what you said may be the best way to try to reach those. Unless you repl...
IIRC there are pawls on the back like most other Nissans, but the lower dash is very easy to take loose. Remove the left kick panel (1 screw), then there's a screw on either side at the bottom of the lower dash panel. Once those are removed, the whole panel just pops loose. Then you can relieve the ...
