Re: Autozone carries OEM Nissan Parts?

Yep, that's a Nissan part number. Denso makes tons of OE stuff for Nissan, and with Nissan-specific parts like valves Denso is usually free to market their own version. Same for Hitachi, NGK, and the rest of the usual suspects. The aftermarket versions may or may not meet Nissan specs for US vehicle...

Re: Loss of heat stopped at idle.

Put a little under half gallon in and then did a bit of idling and it got up to around 100 at the upper return tube and I lost patiences with waiting for it to heat up so I took a little drive to warm it up. If it was half a gallon low, then the core may be airbound. You might need to bleed the sys...

Re: Loss of heat stopped at idle.

Usually it means the coolant is a little low. The heater core is one of the highest points in the system on R51's (and the related Frontiers/Xterras), and automotive water pumps don't generate much head pressure. So it only takes a minor loss of coolant to cause the heat to vanish at low RPM.

Re: R53 full size spare tire

Thanks for the pictures. Even on my 2011, about two inches of the full-size spare tire is visible below the bumper. It seems that temporary spares are often a smaller diameter than the tires. Is the temporary spare for the R53 the same diameter as the normal tires? Maybe this depends on the trim le...

Re: R53 full size spare tire

Looks to me like there's plenty of room, although it might hang a bit below the bumper.

Re: ABS ECU not visible

If it's set up similar to US vehicles, the ABS should be able to communicate on the K-line (DLC pin 7) as well as the regular CANbus lines. Try an ABS-capable shop scanner instead of the Consult3+ used by the dealer, C3+ doesn't read the K-line and may show the ABS as absent when it simply can't com...

Re: Steering feels terrible

If there was 15 in one of the tires then that alignment is going to be way off. That's exactly what I meant about not setting up the rack correctly, the vehicle needs proper prep and then proper rack setup. They should know better, I'd make them redo it.

Re: Steering feels terrible

Sure. A binding sway bar link in particular can cause very "rock and roll" turning behavior in just one direction, and that is the sort of issue that can easily be missed on visual inspection on an alignment rack.

Re: Front door lock

Nissan commonly makes the outside-handle cable part of the lock assembly, and changing it the "right" way does require removing the handle. However, if the existing cable is in good shape, you can "cheat" on most of them by popping the cables loose from the new and old units and ...

Re: v9x 3.0 dci pathfinder wont start

We don't have DCI's here in the 'States for me to offer detailed help, but that sounds very much like a bad cam or crank sensor in a gasser. Hall sensors don't usually flatline immediately when they begin to fail. Instead they "lie" to the ECM and cause come-and-go issues, which don't resu...

Re: Steering feels terrible

Turning like a boat is how you described it. I figured you meant wallowing and excessive effort. Powerboats actually lean into a turn automatically, more like a motorcycle than a car.

Re: Steering feels terrible

That all looks in spec, but that doesn't mean they didn't mess up something in the setup. Did this "boat steer" begin after you changed the suspension parts, or after the alignment? If it's the former then suspect a binding spring or some other parts issue, if it's the latter then they pro...

Re: Steering feels terrible

The SAS can only affect the ABS (and VDC if you have it). It can't affect the steering per se. Unless you're saying it feels like the P/S boost is reduced, it has to be a geometry problem. Maybe they screwed up the alignment.

Re: Steering feels terrible

The inoperative horn could be an issue, it sounds like you got the wheel spun enough to pop the spiral cable after reassembly. That shouldn't affect the steering, but you'll be pulling the wheel off to fix it. The offset wheel in and of itself shouldn't cause steering symptoms, but it sounds like yo...

I was getting that one a year or two ago and I took the vapor canister off and cleaned it out with an air compressor. That fixed my issue. It was full of dirt.
+1. At this point I'd say the canister itself is the likely culprit. Dirty, cracked, or flooded.
