Re: TPMS sensor question

Thanks, the bad TPMS sensor location ironically had a flat tire yesterday. I didn't realize it but the tires were from 2014 and were badly cracked, so I bought 4 new tires w/ new tpms sensors today.

Re: TPMS sensor question

Is the TPMS readout on the infotainment screen in any particular order? The first sensor on the list is acting up and I was hoping for an easy way to diagnose which sensor is dead.

Re: Has anyone done 4600 Bilstein front and rear?

No, I haven't checked the alignment yet. I've hardly done anything but drive it (getting 19 mpg with premium though). I fixed the loose rearview mirror and ordered new lift struts for the rear hatch window glass. It doesn't seem to pull on smooth roads. I'll inspect the suspension and steering compo...

Re: Has anyone done 4600 Bilstein front and rear?

The tires are almost new Michelin Defender LTX M/S. I've never driven a vehicle with these tires, so I don't know if that's normal behavior. In my experience, Michelin makes a great tire and they have good reviews.

Re: Has anyone done 4600 Bilstein front and rear?

My new-to-me 2010 V6 SE 2WD Pathy with only 69k miles needs some suspension/steering love. On the highway when I hit a relatively small bump (even a reflector!), I feel the truck shimmy and wiggle around. It's very unsettling. It also likes to follow grooves and road imperfections. When I hit a bigg...

Re: VVT Cover - anyone know the correct seals for it

I have checked the oil pressure at idle and warmed up -- it's 16 psi, which is within spec. Timing is also in spec .5 both banks with no voltage to vat solenoid at idle. You mention that seal is lathe cut, where I remember the seal I installed was rounded, which makes it even more suspect to me. So...

Re: 2008 Pathfinder w/275k miles

I hadn't heard that the heater pipes were failure prone. Any other weak points I should look over? Is this already covered in a sticky or FAQ somewhere? Thanks everyone! Edit: I know about the SMOD and timing chain as potential weaknesses on 05-~10 VQ40DE engines. I'm mostly concerned with things to...

Re: 2008 Pathfinder w/275k miles

It looks like the original radiator so I'll check the part number after I pick it up. I asked the tech about the SMOD and he said generally it was higher mileage trucks. I don't want to risk it though, so if it's the older SMOD-prone radiator I'll swap it out.

Re: 2008 Pathfinder w/275k miles

Thanks for the advice everyone! I thought about it and decided not to pursue that particular Pathfinder since my time is more valuable right now. Instead...a one-owner 2010 SE Journey pkg w/68k miles popped up today at a nearby Nissan dealer. It was purchased locally and maintained at the same deale...

Re: 2008 Pathfinder w/275k miles

We're having twins (due November) and already have a 2 yr old. We also just moved from New Orleans to the Austin area and want to buy a house eventually (the market is crazy now). I could afford a $10K-15K vehicle but since the wife is getting a newer minivan soon, I would like to go cheap. I can af...

Re: 2008 Pathfinder w/275k miles

I talked with the seller some more. It was his dad's vehicle and now he's selling it to help with college tuition. Since they've had it for the last 10 years/200k they should be able to answer maintenance and repair questions...and have records. Regardless, I feel better about this vs it being a tra...

Re: 2008 Pathfinder w/275k miles

He was asking $3100 and I negotiated him to $2,000. I think this isn't a bad price, given the pandemic pricing. Pre-pandemic, this is probably closer to a $1K car than $2k. I have been pricing parts on Rock Auto, but I don't really want to get into a restoration for my intended use. I ran a Carfax r...

Re: 2008 Pathfinder w/275k miles

Yeah, I know it can add up quickly and if the engine or transmission fail, it's a junkyard car. I only need it a few days a week, maybe 5,000 miles a year. I'd be happy with a couple of years of use out of it. I wish it had better maintenance records too since someone racked up the miles. Is the tim...

2008 Pathfinder w/275k miles

Hi everyone, I'm thinking about purchasing a 2008 Pathfinder S 2WD near me for $2000. It looks fine enough, runs well, and has cold a/c. Some of the negatives are the rear tires are worn, it needs an alignment, struts/shocks are worn out, VDC/Slip light is on, airbag light is flashing, horn non-oper...
