Re: Thinga-Ma-Jigger Update

Well you know how people say its the small things that matter. Well its not. Its the big things ... big tires that is. So I finally = took the factory spare out (and i do mean factor as the steel wheel had a tire on it manufactured in 2006 - Oy!) and put the oversized spare in there. It fit, but hon...

Re: Request for help identifying SRS flash code

You could always take it to O'Reilly's or Auto Zone for a scan, most parts store scanners will do Engine-Trans-ABS-SRS. +1 here, clock spring is expensive and finicky. I would find somewhere to scan this for you. Additionally, when i had my clock spring break it caused the VDC light to stay on. So ...

Re: ABS coming on all the time

Not sure if its relevant, but did you get an alignment done recently? The steering angle sensor is supposed to be recalibrated after an alignment and if they didn't do that if could be providing incorrect input.

Re: Thinga-Ma-Jigger Update

Based on this and the location of the rust in the last picture of the first post, I believe that the rust is caused by battery juices. I should probably look for some sort of drain options for now to try and avoid further damage. Very common on R51's, as well as Frontiers and Xterras with the same ...

Re: Thinga-Ma-Jigger Update

Well of course batteries don't last for $(#& these days. Had a 42 month warrantied interstate battery from Costco. Replaced it with a 36month battery (some place and brand), because my almost 4 year old, but out of warranty battery had 13% life left according to the tester. While I was at it I p...

Re: 2005 Pathfinder Died on the Boat Ramp This AM!!

Update: I charged the battery over a couple of days, measured about 12.33V once fully charged. Fired her up and the voltage across the battery dropped to about 11.99-12.00V. Truck sat for a week, measured the battery this afternoon, 12.26V Went ahead with the belt, tensioner, and pully change. The ...

Re: Rounded manifold nut 2008 V8

Is there enough room for a chisel and hammer to split the nut or cut it in half with a Dremel/grinder. If you can split it off you can get the header off and then have room to do the two nut method to try to get the stud out? Also, with the cost of labor you might be better off buying a cheap welde...

Last time I checked you could still take batteries and alternators in to the auto store and get them tested for free. Could be worth doing.

Re: Spindles very rusted

First off, thanks for everyone's replies to my barrage of questions I've asked the past few weeks. They've really helped. As I've been pulling the entire front suspension out I'm wondering if my spindles are worth replacing or if significant rust on spindles is normal and not a concern. OEM replace...

Re: 2" lift UCA question 2008 V8

That’s beyond the scope of my knowledge, but I think it would require offset bushings and I personally don’t like offset bushings.

Re: 2" lift UCA question 2008 V8

Your milage may vary of course but here is my alignment numbers. You can see that it wouldn't hurt to have an extra 1 to .5 degrees of Camber. but it drives well like this.

Re: Thinga-Ma-Jigger Update

BTW, there are some squeaks (i think from the suspension), but I still love this tire wheel and suspension setup. MPGs went from 15.5 to 13.8/13.9. However, the previous tires traveled about 10% less distance then the current ones. So based on my calculations its a wash to maybe .1 or .2 percent le...
