Re: Possible sign of timing chain failure inbound ?

It's possible that's a chain, but that isn't a typical noise. Usually they make a "heavy metal bumblebee" sound that changes with RPM. That sounds more like a bad tensioner or idler, or possibly a fan or AC clutch. I'd put a stethoscope on it. I don’t have a stethoscope, but will have my ...

Possible sign of timing chain failure inbound ?

I started noticing a slight rattle sounds like like loose marbles when I was driving about a week ago. Sound appears to be coming from the timing chain cover area primarily on driver side. I can also hear it around the driver side wheel well area. I made a video. Will it fail or get louder before fa...

This might not apply - but do you have kids that might climb in the back and play? or sit in the back?

Sometimes they leave toys or something in the cupholder, or storage bins, and it rolls around as the truck moves :) Just a thought.
No kids. The seats 2nd and 3rd row are all folded down.

Something rolling around the back area

I can hear a noise that sounds like an object rolling and moving around the rear area of the truck. Originally I thought it was the tailgate but I’m not so sure now. I can hear more at around 40mph, are there any areas I can check ? Maybe a clip broke and fell inside the tailgate striker area ? I re...

Re: Tailgate emergency release panel

Nothing inside there. I took the whole trim of the tailgate off and there’s no lever inside for emergency release.

Re: A different type of tailgate window leak

I’ve been doing more investigating. I pinpointed the slow leak ,
It’s dripping water out of the rear tail gate latch mechanism itself. The tailgate drain channels all look good. So wondering how water could travel into the latch mechanism then drip on the striker area? Thanks.

Tailgate emergency release panel

Does anyone what is supposed to be behind this cover on the inside lift gate panel. ? I was under the impression it would be an access point for rear lift gate release. I have a rattle when lift gate is closed.

Give it a spin when cold and then again warm. There should be a large difference in resistance, it should be much stiffer when warm. If it isn't, or if it's stuck solid, then it's time for a new clutch.
Ok thanks.

Re: EVAP error codes P0455 P0133 and P0456

I thought P0133 was a bad O2 sensor ? No, P0133/P0153 are for the A/F Sensors. You can call them "front O2's" but it's inaccurate, they're wideband and work much differently from the conventional O2's in the rear. The codes are for slow response, and on older Pathies and other RWD VQ's, p...

Re: EVAP error codes P0455 P0133 and P0456

I doubt those are all related. P0455/P0456 are both evap codes and generally caused by either a loose gas cap or a bad o-ring at the Evap Vent Valve. P0133 is almost always caused by a small leak in the exhaust manifold north of the cat. Partially plug the exhaust and check for things like pinholes...

Mechanical fan clutch always roaring

Lately I’ve noticed that my mechanical fan clutch appears to be stuck , meaning every time I pull away from a stop sign or red lights the viscous fan roars. Originally it only did it on initial cold start ups. But now it seems to always be engaged. My MPG has also been reduced to around 14mpg but ot...

A different type of tailgate window leak

If the tailgate is wet and I open it. Then water pools to the bottom of the rear exterior tailgate window and runs down the inside only when tailgate is open. The seal looks intact perhaps the glass window latch need’s adjusted to make it sit closer to the tailgate ? Not sure if it’s relevant but wh...

If the codes are P0420 or P0430, that's usually a bad cat and not a bad sensor.
No, it wasn’t one of those codes. I’ll check to get specifics later.

So am I right in thinking that if one of the further down cats are going bad I wouldn’t necessarily get an error code ?

Re: What options in regards to cat replace or delete ?

No codes are present except for bank 1 or 2 oxygen sensor error. I need to double check .
