Re: P0420/P0430 diagnostics

@ VStar650CL How often can you use Cataclean? I recently used a gallon of Lacquer Thinner poured in a half tank and vehicle ('01 Path 2WD) seems to be running smoother since and the single Bank 2 P0430 code hasn't come back (yet). But I'm wondering if it's only a matter of cleaning Cats or if they j...

Re: 2001 Accessory Switch Covers / Blanks - Removal question

For sure. Just so people know... the black plastic insert that comprises the cubby hole / accessory switch frame (LE console) seems to be separate from the insanely fragile Faux Burled Wood plastic that surrounds it. You can feel the difference in plastics when tapping between the two. This is why y...

Re: 2001 Accessory Switch Covers / Blanks - Removal question

Update for anyone reading this in the future... Using a small plastic electronics spudger pry tool (aka 'lift tool') to reach into & behind the top edge of accessory blank covers you gently pry and they easily pop out without damage. Rest assured that, for whatever reason you may want to remove...

Lojack location

Previous owner told me they originally had a Lojack installed. (2001 Pathfinder LE 2wd) Anyone found one while working on your vehicle and if so what was the location ? I'm guessing installers repeat / use the same location(s) on certain makes / models. I'm guessing it's harmless but still would lik...

Re: 2001 Accessory Switch Covers / Blanks - Removal question

Ah, 'printing'. Must have to fume the heck out of it to get a decent finish. I'm gonna google for photos out of curiosity. I've recently started to think about replacing stereo / cd just for a horizontal phone holder or extra cubby hole (wireless ear buds get it done for me) and wondered if same cau...

Re: 2001 Accessory Switch Covers / Blanks - Removal question

..." so brittle it will break when you breathe on it ." Like a potato chip. I found out the hard way because of wanting to repair the clock. I foolishly watched a few videos all showing how to remove the cover by prying from the sides. In 'cautious' haste (many things to fix / limited time...

.... oh, I think I see what you mean now.... The ol' Reach Around. So take off the cover below the steering wheel and reach around to pop out the blanks (?)

Re: 2001 Accessory Switch Covers / Blanks - Removal question

Not sure how to post images here yet, so I'll attempt a Imgur link below. These are the blank locations I'm referring to.

2001 Accessory Switch Covers / Blanks - Removal question

Does anyone have experience with removing the accessory switch covers / blanks in the console ? These would be the unused switch locations to the left of the cubby hole at the bottom of the console (below CD player) in an LE trim. I want to know if they pull straight out, without removing console co...
