Re: Working with an Exhuast company to get a kit for R51s

So it's been a while. Some notes:
A) Still stoked on the fitment
B) I am noticing about a 1.5MPG difference on the freeway. HUGE!
C) I am noticing about 1MPG difference around town. HUGE!
D) I HATE the sound. I feel like a high schooler driving a straight piped crusty G35. It is soooo annoying. I ...

Does your trans get hot after Rad bypass?

I did the Radiator bypass about 2,000 miles ago and it has not been an issue. I have had a trans temp gauge hooked up for about 50k miles (plugged into the side of the trans case). Before rad bypass Temp was almost always 120 or less. It would creep toward 180 when towing in the heat but it never ...

Re: Are there "Tuners" available to us?

100% agree but I don't think anyone will know what you are talking about if you call it an "intake pipe with less restrictions in it" or a IPWLRII. Say "cold air intake" or CAI and everyone knows what you are talking about.

Re: Working with an Exhuast company to get a kit for R51s

Spent 12 hours yesterday getting this system to "fit".

1) EVERY single part needed work to fit. The muffler is about 6" too far aft so I had to trim all 3 front pipes (see diagram). I had to fabricate all new mounts, None of the installed mounts worked where they were. I stopped taking pictures ...

R51 Rancho rear 2" lift seats, Free plus shipping, Boise ID

Hey all, I took these out of my R51. I put about 80K miles on them and they were great but just put stiffer springs in. Anyone want these? My zip is 83709 if you want to calculate shipping. If no bites, they go in the trash in June of 2025. DM me your cell number and I'll send you pics and get your ...

Re: Are there "Tuners" available to us?

I have an UpRev on my V8. I've seen the dyno on the V6 (Xterra) and gives about 20hp and 50tq gain? I suggested UpRev and got reamed out. Everyone seems horny for the VF Tuner tuner. They just released one for the 3.8 and apparently working on one for the 4.0L.

Oooh.... When I go to UPREV Tuner ...

Re: Rear shocks for 2" lift

It was pretty much just hand tools. You need more than just a 19mm. Probably make sure you have a breaker bar because some of them are REALLY tight. You will need to jack the truck and put it on a jack stand, then use the jack under the control arm to remove the bolt, then gently lower the control ...

I ended up ordering the entire Frontier kit. It's in my garage and I hope to install in late Feb. Pics to follow!

Re: Are there "Tuners" available to us?

copy that @TooMuchControl. This weekend I did spark plugs and the Z1 plenum spacer. The plugs were not too bad but I figured if I was pulling the plenum to install the spacer, might as well do plugs. Its seems a little peppier in the mid throttle space? Not sure if it was $260-I-paid-for-the-spacer ...

Re: Rear shocks for 2" lift

Copy all, guys. Yesterday I spent about 3 hours and installed my new Bilsteins, Mevotech sway bar end links and cheapie Fleabay QX-56 springs. It went pretty easily, with only one nut on a sway bar end link fighting me at all.

The Ranchos were NASTY. The boots had collected water and it pooled at ...

Working with an Exhuast company to get a kit for R51s

Hey all, I am working with an exhuast company to see if we can get a better performance cat-back kit offered to us. They are sending me the Y-pipe and muffler from their Frontier kit to see if they fit easily. If they do fit well, the company will develop a tail pipe and we will have access to an ...

Are there "Tuners" available to us?

I plan on some bolt-ons and am hoping to get my Pathy tuned. I have seen gas pedal changers (like pedal commander) but I am looking for something that can get a little deeper. On some of my other vehicles I had a hand held tuner that I could input new fuel, timing, and other changes. Does that exist ...

Re: "new" member, R51 in Boise

Sweet old girl.

Welcome!

Thanks! I just did a 2200 mile road trip from Boise to Phoenix and towed about 2500 pounds of trailer home in it, too.

2011 with 135K - it's barely broken in.
Welcome.

Yeah! I think so, too! I just put AT4Ws on it last week and it's got a clunk in the rear ...
