No practical purpose. They are in vogue now as a fashion accessory. They've been on BMW M Cars for years (and have appeared periodically on domestics before that), but as of this year are on everything from Escalades to entry level Fords. I think they will go out of fashion as quickly as they came i...

The 2008 OR, LE, and V8 wheels are all machine cast this year and look much better in my opinion. After a trip to see them all in person, I decided I liked the appearance and size (17X7.5 vs 16X7 for the OR) of the Cast LE wheel better and am on the hunt for some takeoffs of same. Still deciding if ...

R51 trail meet? I'll bring the S'mores...

This may seem silly, but I thought I'd bring it up anyway. I'm getting ready to drive cross country to Las Vegas in a few weeks to attend a huge M5 weekend for enthusiasts from all over the US. It started as an idea on our M5board, and grew to an event with over 150 cars registered to go. There are ...

Heh Brit - Funny you should mention the LR3... we considered that one as well, and discarded it as a final selection for the same reasons. Price (though not too bad) and reliability. We had a friend with two Discos and one was perpetually in the shop at all times. I bet he spent half their total val...

Strange enough, its one of the reasons we bought the Pathfinder. The sturdiness of the factory rack was a consideration because, like NV Steve, we haul our kayaks all year with a Thule mount. Additionally it hauls both both mountain and road bikes. Combined with the fold flat third row, 4WD, and its...

That was pretty cool. There were several cool pictures on the second link. I enjoy these as there aren't a ton of good pics on the net of R51s out and about in the dirt.

thanks...

I suspect if they do end up with a Pathfinder crossover it would enter the lineup certainly larger than a Rogue and probably larger than a Murano, with third seat capability. It would likely be an Acadia competitor in terms of size, capability and price. Nissan already has small and medium sized FWD...

The next Pathfinder - a crossover?

I read two articles this past week discussing the fact that Nissan is in the midst of determining what the next Pathfinder will be in terms of design, capacity, and layout. With the change in US market tendencies and looming fuel economy improvement mandates, Nissan is considering moving the PF over...

Yes, the wheels are very similar to the LE wheels. They are just wider and have the protrusion at the end of each spoke, but those small differences make all the difference. I've been grappling with a wheel change for ours and still haven't seen anything I really like. Notice what looks like an offr...

I was referring to my wife and I selecting grey/tan as a color combination based on having seen a similar combo on the DH and liking it there. I also liked the integrated exhausts and rear bumper. Its interesting how the concept's waterfall portion of the dash design more closely resembles the shape...

Silly question for the hardcore PF enthusiast

So what do you think ever became of the Dunehawk concept vehicle? I love concept cars, and though many are destroyed, a few get tucked away. The Dunehawk was incredible - I loved everything about it and it previewed the R51 very well. Any word on when the new body style will arrive, having just come...

We have the 265s on the stock 16X7" SE wheel from 2006 and they have never rubbed under any situation. The LE wheel was the only one I am aware of with different specs as it was 1/2" wider in addition to being a 17" (speaking of 2005/2006/2007 specifically).

Our very first inclement weather experience with them was in the heaviest rain I have driven in during a coastal torrential downpour on a vacation to the Gulf. They wer very sure footed and displaced water much better than the BFG All Terrains I have had in the past on other vehicles. Of course, the...

We put a set of the Nitto Terra Grapplers (265/75R16s) on our 2006 SE 4X4 right after we bought it, and it now has about 27k miles. We've had them in all weather conditions and terrain, and frankly I love them. I bought them on a recommendation of a friend who had them on his Landcruiser. They've be...
