Hmm....I hadn't thought of that. I don't drive more than a few miles to work so the tires wouldn't have time to get warm. They do go from T-Shirt temperature to -500 degrees in 10 minutes and spend 9 hours outdoors in that temperature. And the "winterplus traction" tiredoes not appear to b...

It does happen everytime its gets really cold, (it can't hear it around zero but when it hits -12 to -15F I do) but not when the temperature goes up. The only time when it happens is when it has been sitting outdoors for the day at work. During the night it sleeps indoors in a heated garage. How doe...

Two clunks and 4 hops = ???

So it's about -15 to -25 degrees during the day and when I get into the truck, it starts (not happily, but no one is at that temperature) and I let it warm up for about two to three minutes before I put it into reverse and back out of my parking spot. It goes into drive with its usual clunk (the sam...

So i pylled the auto-lockers off and installed a pair of the Mile (Kilometer?) Markers that I ordered off of the web. Easy, squeezy!! I finished that in about an hour while being short ofsnap-ring pliers. I ended up using two flat bladed srewdrivers and a small pick to pull the snap-ring off. Everyt...

Does anyone know what the actual diameter of that hose? I would like to replace both of those sections while I'm in there taking care of the funky injector problems and replacing the knock sensor.

Thanks smj! I was looking at the the web site above and that there were that many snap rings didn't make much sense (it was about ten minutes before I went to bed though). I'd pull out the mag base dial indicator and measure the end play but it's freezing cold and still raining. The problem, as I me...

4x4 Auto-locker questions about orientation and....

Good Day ladies and gentlemen, I have a 1990 WD21 4x4 Auto, four door, from Canada and I have just had a most disturbing weekend. I left my parking space in the basement of the building here in really cold Quebec and heard the nastiest crunch crunch noise coming from something that was rotating slow...

From what I can decipher here in the Haynes manual it looks like there are really 8 wires listed, but the caveat is that is also say "typical chassis wiring diagram"..... the only brown wire I can see is that one that goes to one of the terminals of the transmission inhibitor switch (there...

That's funny, I've never hit my head on the Pathfinder. I hit my head almost every time I climbed into or out of the Volvo, the Subaru, the Honda and the BMW... the Volvo is the worst offender of that group though. I would think that at 6'2" and 180lbs I'm not that far out of the norm with most...

I realize that I'm probably stating the obvious but here it goes: did you forget to plug something back in when you put everything back together? There is a whole mess of wires and connectors back there that all look similar. Maybe pull the cluster out and check the two (three?) connectors on the ri...

I'm just thinking off the top of my head (and it's early so I may still be foggy) but if the temp gauge is jumpy and the truck runs well until about 20 minutes into a trip with hesitation problems I would have three items to take a look at. 1) water pump bearing (binding under higher heat conditions...

AS far as the clock is concerned, my volks was also gaining a few minutes a day. After much searching on Bentley Publishers technical forums I found that the reason was because of a corrosion issue due to the humidity inside the cabin. The corrosion attacks the connector material (copper/ solder?) a...

You ain't kiddin! It's of the reasons I had to stop driving the VW... and a chipped car with a cut-out at 8000rpm and speed limiter removed (not my doing).... The car also refused to operate on anything but premium fuel below 10F. and acted funny if you put anything other than Bosch parts on.... fue...
