The transmission cooler inside the rad is a supplementary piece, and I suspect it has more to do with bringing the temperature UP in winter rather than DOWN in the summer. You know the more I think about this, Im not so sure how true that is. The thermostat in the cooling system isnt going to open ...

^ correct The Pathfinder already has an external cooler mounted by the radiator. The transmission cooler inside the rad is a supplementary piece, and I suspect it has more to do with bringing the temperature UP in winter rather than DOWN in the summer. But a bypass is an afterthought for the origina...

Mine's done! I was becoming paranoid about the prospect of cooking my transmission  , so I visited a familiar independent mechanic and paid him $50 to make the change. Yeah, I coulda done it, except I didn't have any jack stands to hold it in the air while I crawled around under the thing. M...

Don't be nervous, and don't worry about the Arizona temps. You're only bypassing the small internal trans cooler, there's still a big external one in place! There's nothing to worry about, seriously. I suspect that the internal cooler serves more to WARM up the transmission in cold winters than it d...

I wouldn't count on any year being excluded from having this problem. Most of the trucks that have this issue are '05 models, but that's most likely just because they're the oldest now. Wait another year and the 06s will start popping up in shops too, guaranteed. Fix it!!! It takes 25 minutes and $3...

My struts are basically shot so they don't keep it fully open... but if I force it all the way up it still grazes the top of my head when Im under it. There's no way that's normal....?

If you're 6'2" and clear it fine, then I guess I have my answer. I wonder why though..

how far up does your hatch open?

I'm 6' tall and I have to duck a little to get under the hatch when its fully open... which is incredibly stupid. Im wondering if its just mine, or if all of them barely open beyond 90 degrees? I also have to buy new hatch struts because they're not holding the thing open... so I thought maybe there...

I have an occasional rattle from around the front defrost vents and it goes away if I adjust the temp dial a little warmer or cooler. Not sure what it is, but obviously has something to do with the blower or whatever.

Inspect your trans fluid, drain it all if you have to. Slight chance you have the dreaded transmission cooler leak in your rad which means your trans would be on its way out.

Yep, fuel sender issues. Best is to just learn to live with it. Mine is still somewhat accurate, but it's on its way out.

I reset the trip meter when I pump a full tank and I know its good for at least 450km.

No adverse effects here either, it shifts fine. Your problem is unrelated to the mod.

but you will still have the leaky radiator, which in time will eventually leak out all the coolant and eventually you will have to replace the radiator right ? Wrong. The radiator doesn't spring a leak externally. In fact, the coolant radiator doesn't leak at all... its the transmission cooler insi...

Re: fuel sensor

I have a 2005 SE with 110K miles on it and the fuel sensor is starting to act up. If I let the gas level get too low to the point when the warning light comes on, I get a check engine light and the DTE goes (-----). After filling up, it takes a while before the gage shows full. The check engine lig...
