Are you getting a dribble at both sides? If not, another possibility is that the hose on one side has popped off the bottom of the nozzle. Could you not loop a bicycle lock through the rims and around something on the chassis?

Just be careful to ensure the lock is kept in the car for when you need it!

Might investigate this myself as the spare does seem very vulnerable.
