It's a combination of gearing and the tires. The gearing on the 5spd isn't all that great for HWY because it's very short gearing (I think that's the term..or am I thinking of the other way around?) Anyway, the tires are pretty big for a vehicle this size, and thus with the combination, the RPM's ar...

Well the tach only shows what the engine speed is, it doesn't control it.

But I don't know how the auto's are, I'm sure theres some control module somewhere, which would be causing your bad shifts. Again I'm not sure though, lets just say I love my manual!

Nice! These trucks are indestructible. I test drove a 88 before I bought my 95, it still ran great..

My truck's had Mobil 1 synt. pretty much all it's life. The guy I bought it from had receipts of it starting from around 97 when he bought it..and it still runs like a champ, so that's what I will keep on sticking with.. For the record it has 164K and the motor runs and even looks, almost new!

Also the tranny and the tach are not correlated to one another-totally irrelevant systems.. But it could change your driving behavior just having your tach. After I got mine replaced, I keep the revs lower, ended up getting almost 2mpg's better!

Someone call me out if I'm wrong

Hey I have a 95 Pathfinder, they have the same gauges. When I bought mine tach didn't work at all, bounced all over the place, what ever it wanted to do.. It's either: Get used to it, or replace the tachometer unit. I took a chance since I really didn't know either, but I got a tach unit from a junk...

Differential oil capacity

Does anyone know the differential capacity for both the rear and front, on a 95 v6? I can't seem to find it anywhere!

Tach issue 1995

Anyone have a clue as to what is wrong with my tach?

It barely works, it jumps all over the place sometimes, but I'm sure its getting a signal so to speak, it goes from one place to another within my driving range (RPMs-usually 800-3500RPM.)

Other than that I love my truck!

New to me Pathfinder

Well, unlike my user name I have a Pathfinder, in the USA! I've always wanted a Nissan 4x4 since seeing them on the road as a kid in Japan. Hence "Terrano"..I've always referred to them as that. Anyways, I got a 1995 Pathfinder SE V6 stick shift, 162K and honestly it runs like a new car. G...
