VIAS Power Valve failures

Hey folks. How many people have had issues with the "power valves" in the intake manifold runners (VQ35) coming loose and being ingested by the engine? If so, what kind of mileage? My 04 R50 just spit them out and destroyed #6 cylinder at 99,800mi. Did a valve leakage test and it fails mis...

Check fuse #26 which is a 7.5 amp fuse. This circuit only gets power while cranking over from the Ignition switch. The purpose of this circuit is to inform the PCM that the starter has been requested to operate, and that the engine is cranking over and to configure the fuel and timing maps for start...

O2 sensors will not make it stall. This vehicle uses an Electronic Throttle body which is responsible for controlling how much air is allowed into the engine. The electric TB is controlled by the engine computer. If it is dirty or faulty, improper operation will result. Clean it. The re-learn proced...

The ECM setting a P0420/430 is an almost fool proof DTC. In my experience I have seen nothing but a bad cat set this code ever. Usually it's a bit more obvious than your particular case. It is possible that the cat just barely fails the ECM's test of switching frequency and not appear to the eyeball...

clean the throttle body, do the accelerator pedal position re-learn, and Idle air volume learn. start there.

The ECM monitors the switching frequency of HO2S1 (upstream) and HO2S2 (downstream of cat). A good catalytic converter will have a high oxygen storage content and the downstream O2 will switch; higher and lower than 450mV, much slower than the upstream sensor. A bad cat will have a low oxygen conten...

sounds like it's a good find. have any good mechanic inspect it for sure. Preferably a Nissan enthusiast/mechanic. I just bought an 04 SE 4x4 last month with 90k on it. so far so good. mine had lots of little issues like trim pieces missing and electrical issues and minor water leaks also needed lot...

Rebuild it. Have a reputable machine shop go through it, the whole long block. Most likely you will need a crank kit if the journal with the spun bearing is heavily damaged. Should be much cheaper than a replacement engine. I recently had an SR20 motor, with a similar problem; rebuilt for around $90...

sounds like leaking master cylinder to me. Un-bolt the master cylinder (leave the line connected), and look to see if there is any fluid leaking. Or just look at the back of it from underneath the dash.

Check ALL of your fuses. It sounds like one of the fuses responsible for a constant power supply to multiple accessories may have popped. Fuse #24 in the dash is one of those. If not a fuse start looking at basic power/ground issues like cable connection or a battery with a dead cell

Bank 1 is the passenger's side of the vehicle, Bank 2 is driver's. Also sjm is right there are multiple TSBs regarding this. depending on the VIN you may also need to have the ecm reflashed with the latest calibrations. edit: TSB#NTB01-048A from Mar 13 2002
