Well I guess it's either pay now or maybe pay later. One thing you know with an extended warranty is that you must pay now. I was quoted $2000 for a non-nissan warranty when I bought mine. If this thing needs $2,000 between 36k and 100k miles I will be rid of it fairly quickly anyway. While I'm not ...

Re: Extended Warranty Statistics

I My 3 years are up the beginning of February & I'm honestly surprised that I haven't had anything from Nissan offering an extended warranty. I might just bite on one if it is reasonable in price. Any other companies that offer the extended warranty? Did you have many problems during the standa...

...and I whooped my cousin with his g37 recently. You may want to let him know you're racing next time. This isn't going to happen, period! No doubt. Testing I've seen puts the G37 at 5.4 seconds to 60 and the V8 Pathfinder at 7. One is pretty quick, the other is average. You'd need a supercharger ...

Car and Driver has a test which compared the V6 Pathfinder to the V8 4Runner . Do you by chance have a link to that comparison? http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/comparisons/05q2/2005_ford_explorer_vs._jeep_grand_cherokee_mitsubishi_montero_nissan_pathfinder_toyota_4runner_vw_touareg-comparison_t...

I'm picky if I know they're good. The Toyota OEM are nearly identical to the NAPA Gold, which is how I landed on them. I'd buy a case of the Toy filters for $4/each when ordering other things. $7/pop for the Nissan filters isn't a deal so I'll buy them elsewhere. Not all OEM filters are great so I w...

Yeah thanks. Should be in good shape. Oil filters seemed a little high so I passed on those. I used to buy Toyota filters from the online sites because they were in the $4 range. Not sure where Nissan oil filters stack up and didn't find any chatter about it here on the forum. I know Honda are cheap...

Yes, thanks for the link. I searched some other online Nissan parts sites and couldn't find the bracket. Bought some oil pan crush washers while I was there. Shipping is a little high but still better than driving an hour to the dealer!

Front License Plate

I bought my Pathfinder in a state that doesn't require a front plate. So I need to get my Ohio plate on there so the cops will leave me alone. Is there a factory plate mount available or do you just have to run screws through the bumper cover?

I'm a motor head and typically buy the fastest option I can get. I was looking for slightly used Pathfinders recently and had a hard time finding a V8 to test as well. Ended up driving a new one to compare. I'm coming out of a V8 Tundra and wanted to make sure I wasn't going to miss the V8 power. Th...

I've been running 91 so I don't think that's the problem. Didn't do it at all today. Temps were in 40's and I didn't warm the engine more than what it takes to get situated and drive off.

Hard to find fuel anywhere without 10% ethanol. Shouldn't hurt anything, but it does dog your mpg a bit. The problem with stronger blends of ethanol (e-80) is that it will cause damage to fuel lines that aren't made specifically for it. Plus it will run like crap if the computer doesn't have the pro...

Well, we can argue all day whether driving a "cold" engine is good or bad. IMHO, if it doesn't have adequate oil pressure and flow within 30 seconds or less it has problems (either mechanical or design in nature). My normal routine is for the engine to run about 30 seconds before I back ou...

Re: Engine Knock when cold

How cold is it where you are at? Well it was about 20°F last night which is the warmest it's been and partly why I didn't let it warm up much before driving off. It's been hovering around 10° mostly but I let it idle 10 minutes or so and have never heard the clattering sound. When I test drove the ...

Engine Knock when cold

Just bought a 2008 SE with 15k miles a couple weeks ago. Have been letting it warm up for 10 minutes or so because it's been so cold and I hate the cold. Tonight when leaving work, I only let it idle a minute or so before taking off and during acceleration I notice a somewhat loud knock/clattering s...

Backup cam is standard on SE since 2008 Well I have to disagree based on two weeks worth of research and shopping. I looked at a couple 2008/2009 SE's that did NOT have the backup cam. The 7" info screen is standard on SE, but not the cam. From what I found, the backup camera has always been i...
