So long

Well after 150,000 miles of nearly trouble free driving, I decided to pass my PF on to another owner. A friend recently inquired about buying mine and I've been driving it less and less since I have a company vehicle. It just didn't make sense to have another SUV sitting here. This is one of the bes...

Much easier than squeezing it from the back. I decided to pop mine out while I was thinking about it. Here ya go:

If it's to the left of the steering wheel, I have that same blank panel with a hole! I had my driving lights switched there before going with different lights. You should be able to reach up under the dash and pop it out. There are little tabs that hold it in. Since you're not worried about damaging...

I keep the measurements handy as I'm always hauling stuff. The length will depend on where you have your seat but I can get 72" from behind my seat to rear door. That's with the seat reclined up a little more than I prefer but the seat itself is all the way back. Width between the wheel wells i...

Interesting. Kind of an odd build since there's no glass protection besides in the rear.

You probably don't need to worry about bypassing if it has an updated radiator. Timing chain would typically only whine on a cold start from what I understand. '05-'06 models seem to be more problematic which makes sense given they're the first couple years of that gen. The newer you get the more so...

Some cords have mics built in but if not, your phone was likely picking it up. I have a bluetooth adapter plugged into my aux input and it uses the phone's mic. Basically just like when you have it on speaker phone only it's using the car's speakers. Works pretty good. If the car doesn't have blueto...

Mine have been doing this for two winters now. As soon as it drops to below 10°F one of the sensors craps out. My tire shop checks them all and they're working when they test it so they reset and it's good again until temp drops. I'm just waiting until it warms up for good then I'll reset. At one ti...

They're pretty decent on reliability from what I've seen. The CVT is most likely where you'll have issues and it won't be cheap to fix in most cases. Honestly, if I was looking at compact crossovers of that vintage I'd have a hard time overlooking the RAV4, particularly with the V6. It's quite power...

Had that happen to me once as well. I was going a lot faster when I hit a rogue icy patch going through a turn and it kept me from going ass-over-tea-kettle. I was sold on it at that point as well.

I use NAPA gold which is a WIX filter. Oil samples come back terrific at 9k-10k miles intervals and silicon levels are always very low. I don't have much interest reusable filters either. I ran them years ago and really didn't see the benefit and always noticed higher contaminant levels in the oil w...

Mine has always been noisy when cold. I don't think I would call it piston slap because that seems to occur at idle (particularly on Chevy 5.3L) where I don't get any noise at idle. Just while driving. It's pretty much always done it and I'm well over 140k miles so I'm not going to worry too much ab...

Did you ever burp the system as was advised in your prior post? It sounds like classic air pockets in the coolant system. Usually worse at low speeds or when idling.

If you want to hear a sweet sound, take out a VQ37 in the Infiniti G37 or Q40. Probably one of the best sounding V6's ever and no slouch on power either...0-60 in the low 5's.

I wouldn't sweat it. Maybe swap the front differential/transfer case fluids earlier than usual next time but I don't think you'd hurt anything. Not nearly as bad as if you were driving around and making a lot of turns.
