Is it common to do a transmission fluid flush, on a high milage vehicle?
I think some believe that this can cause other issues to appear. Any feedback would be appreciated!

It doesn't seem to clunk, or shudder as bad, when the tow button / overdrive off is on. This is making me think it may be the torque converter.
If anyone has seen this before, I would appreciate any advice!

slight clunk and shake when applying gas - 2000 pathy SE

Hi folks, I have a 2000 SE, 3.3litre, 4 wheel drive. (has about 170,000 miles on it) Like the title says, I get an intermittent slight clunk or knock, sometimes accompanied by a vibration that stops after a couple of seconds, as I accelerate more, or let off the gas. It doesn't do it all of the time...

you can search for other posts on harmonic balancer, for more info. Basically, the inner rubber lets go, and allows the outer pulley to spin around the inner part. If you look carefully, or measure when engine is not running... you will likely find the sace behind the outer pulley getting smaller, a...

Thanks for the reply, and info. To be honest, I would not normally use 4x4 above 50mph, or so. But often, in highway driving up here, you may have bad, snowy spots, where it is really nice to put it in 4x4, and then the pavement clears a few miles later, and you want to go back up to 70mph, or so. N...

Sorry to bump an old post, but I am still having the same trouble - doesn't usually come out of 4high, until I stop and usually have to put it in reverse for a second. I changed the transfer case fluid a couple of weeks ago, and it did not make a difference. Drive often on roads which can be snow co...

shift on fly 4x4 not disengaging easily

Hey Folks, My 2000 pathfinder SE has always worked well. The shift on the fly would allow me to put it in 4x4 while going up to about 60mph or more, and would come out easily as well. Usually, when going back to 2 wheel drive, it would take a few seconds to disengage, and would go quicker if I hit t...

Has the timing belt ever been changed? That would be the 1st thing I did, if it hasn't! If it goes, you are in ti some serious engine bucks. - smashed off valves, etc. I am not a mechanic, but have always heard that it was bad to change to synthetic oil on an older engine. I would just use regular o...

Alarm going off - Help me fix or disable it, please!!

Hi guys, I have had my 2000 SE for about 7 years. Had been rolled over - bought as a rebuilt / new roof. Has worked well, bought at 35,000 miles and have put a hundred thou more on it. I never got a remote door opener with it. Have always just used the power lock button to lock and the key in driver...
