Unless you're a gear designer with a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, stick with what the Nissan engineers spec out in the manual.

When you first start the PF in the morning, the fan clutch roars for maybe two seconds. Thats what it should sound like with the clutch engaged. I'm not sure that this statement is accurate. The roar is more due to the elevated RPMs just after startup. My understanding of the fan clutch is that it'...

5W-20 might be ok, but you definitely lose lubrication margin with the thinner oil, and there is a possibility of sacrificing engine life for a little fuel efficiency. I would have to submit to the knowledge and experience of the Nissan engineers on this one. Without the complete engine design data,...

The hex size is 10mm. I went with Royal Purple MaxGear 75W-90, which meets the GL-5 spec. I believe that it does have friction modifiers for use in limited slip differentials, but I doubt you'd notice much difference in economy. Make sure to get 2 new crush washers (one for fill, one for drain) befo...

Tint your windows and use a sunshade on your windshield...that's probably about all you can do short of a full out cover for the truck. The cabin heats up not due to conduction or convection, but radiation entering through the windows, hitting the seats and converting to heat. Installing insulation ...

Wow, either the audio is really bad on that clip, or the problem is really bad. Sounds more like a grinding/mashing sound than buzzing/whining. I'm not really sure that the clip helped me identify what to listen for.

I've used Blackstone Labs in the past, $30 includes TBN in addition to wear metal analysis, viscosity, % water, glycol, and probably a couple of others I'm missing. They send you a convenient little shipping kit. I haven't sent any samples in lately, since 17k miles. At 42k I'm probably due for anot...

I didn't look that closely at the material...I just seem to remember a couple of torx screws under there. My memory is really terrible about it and I'd hate to take a guess. But yeah, the covers are just decorative. It was the rear left cover that fell off, and I didn't notice any additional wind no...

They practically fall off (in fact, one did, about two weeks after buying the truck). I've since glued all of my caps onto the rack to avoid this happening again. But seriously, just pry them off.

I'm not really seeing a point to the tents that connect to the rear hatch of an SUV. As I've never used one, am I missing some advantages? I prefer to have a standalone tent and store gear in the back of the truck. If you have the tent there, you can't get to stuff in the truck without going through...

Check out NTB07-042: "ALL NISSAN MODELS WITH VQ ENGINE; BUZZING / WHINING NOISE FROM TIMING CHAIN AREA" The recommended action is to replace both secondary timing chains and secondary timing chain tensioners. I heard one rumor about some kind of teflon coating that is wearing prematurely, ...

I've always been a believer in synthetic, but with this Pathy I think it's extra important. With the issue of timing chains wearing out prematurely on '05-'07 models, synthetic will only help extend the life. Of course, it may extend the life just beyond the powertrain warranty, but you never know. ...

I had Cross Terrains on a '97 Explorer about 3 years ago, and for the $600 I paid at the time they were disappointing from a traction perspective, not much better than the Firestones that were on the truck. Traction really was not that great and the rear end would still always have a tendency of get...

I've never noticed this vibration, except for a momentary shudder when the A/C compressor kicks on. My engine is smooth at idle in gear, and I would not expect anything otherwise from a new truck.

I'd take it back to the dealer and have it checked out.
