Great write up! You did it the "right" way by removing the intake plenum, but it is possible to change the plugs without removing it. It is doable with the right socket extensions, universal joints, and open end wrenches, but more challenging on the hands and fingers. Two of the plugs on t...

Not flaming you bbermann, but I need data to believe this. No MPG change, but an increase in HP and Torque just doesn't add up. Power = fuel consumption. Unless the mods made the engine more efficient, but that would also change MPG. Unless there was a corresponding change in your driving style to ...

A couple of months ago I replaced the front U-joint, and lately it has been making noise and vibrating. Today I replaced it again. When I did the job originally I had trouble seating the cap and couldn't get the snap ring in. When I disassembled, I found that one of the needles had fallen into the c...

Almost every picture of the 2013 I've seen seems to show it at an angle...like they're embarrassed to show a straight on profile. I don't blame them.

It sounds suspicious. I'd seriously doubt they'd check your differential fluid as part of an oil change/inspection routine. I changed my differential fluid for the first time on my '05 around 30k...there was metallic particles and sludge on the plug, but I wouldn't say that the fluid was black. I'd ...

Thanks are there any tell-tale signs of them wearing when I'm under there? Look for the rubber bulging out the sides. If your bushings are going your sway bar might be contacting the frame. Although mine manifested itself as a metallic clack, I could see how it might squeak under different circumst...

i'd guess that the difficulty that you are having seating the cap is becaused it is not installed straight into its' hole (misaligned), which will result in bearing failure :( This isn't a bad guess, but not true in my case. If I removed the snap ring from the other side, I was able to fully recess...

I won't argue that the press looks like a better way to go for next time, but I was following the R51 service manual which suggests using a vice and hammer to seat the joint. Nowhere did it mention using a special tool to recess the caps.

Anyway, I used an aftermarket U-joint (Precision, #354) and I think it might not have been manufactured to spec. On one side of the yoke I was able to get both caps on and secure the snap rings, but the other side seemed too long. No matter how much I hit it after installing the snap ring on one si...

Re: Repair of rear heater lines for about $20

I have an '05 Pathfinder and I started noticing a coolant smell around the passenger side rear wheel well. I searched several times and even went as far as removing all of the rear interior panels to check the heater core and lines in there for leaks, to no avail. Finally, I found that the aluminum...

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I wanted to leave this feedback somewhere. Just did the front universal joint on my 2WD '05; it had started creaking and squeaking in reverse, and made very occasional high pitched "squirrel" sounds when coasting in drive. Found that one of the bearings h...

My entire point is that I am satisfied with OEM components and therefore am not choosing to "upgrade." This point of view might be useful for someone trying to decide whether to upgrade their brakes.

Just ordered OEM pads, rotors, and hardware. Originals lasted me 90k with what I thought was enough stopping power, so I'm not going to mess with aftermarket fit/function/life risk.

Hate it. They need to stick with the muscular edges of the R51 and not sissy it up like they're doing to Infinity. I want something that feels and looks like a truck.
