ill check on the above

one thing ive noticed that wheneve ri turn on the car , a squeeky voice comes from the motor due to a belt being old i guess. would this be a reason of an excessive fuel consumption .

If there is a problem with the computer and it's feeding too much fuel in proportion to the amount of air then the motor would be burning gas inefficiently resulting in low milage but, there would be telltale signs such as excessive smoking. What i am asking is , why is my car doing for low mileage. Regarding how i drive, i keep my rpm under 2k,vehicle condition is vgood, had it fully checked , i measure the distance by going out at 5am on Saturday for a long driver filled the tank with gas and did my math after ~ an hour of driving ...

1996 pathfinder doing ~40 miles on 5 gallons

Good day ,

My 1996 pathfinder is doing 40 miles city wise, it is driving me crazy, i have changed the spark plugs,gas filter,air filter.

And it is still doing for low on the mileage, only thing i havent changed yet is the electric distributor because i dont think it would effect my mileage.

Whats the mpg on it

Good day,

Ever since i bought it, been doing between 50 and 55 km per 20 litres.

Didnt have time before to check on this problem as i was stationed abroad.
now that am back, need to get this fixed. so anyone have any idea what might the problem be?

Does this "crackling" sound eminate from the front wheels or from the shifter area?
Also, are you saying that the car does not move when it's in 2wd?

crackling sounds comes from right under the car. all the way from the middle.

The car moves good on 2wd, on 4h it does the crackling sound, and ...

Crackling sound on all wheel drive

Good day,

When i shift my awd gear 1 step down and i make a right or left turn i hear a loud crackling sound.

and when ever i try to shift the awd gear one or two steps up from N it doesnt move. i feel as if its stuck.


Any idea what it might be.

It's normal to have it on the cool side of the mid point. Gives you more time to respond when it starts creeping up. You didn't mention whether you owned the car for a long time. If you notice that the temperature takes a long time to rise to normal then you may be without a thermostat. When you ...
