I'm not sure why, but U-Pull-It and similar places (Pick 'n Pull, Wrench-A-Part, etc) always have the best prices. :D

Junkyards are *great* places to find parts. Be warned, though: some of them are a ripoff. For example, at a junkyard near where my parents live: $125 for a grill for a Chevy S-10 ($65 new from the dealership). $3000 for a Ford 300c.i. inline 6 engine ($2500 re-manufactured from a parts store). And t...

If you need repair parts for it, be sure to check rockauto.com

From what I've seen, they have some of the best prices on a lot of parts.

I couldn't really say much about mods, though. (Not yet, anyway. I still have a couple more days before I can say my '91 XE is fully up and running)

At a guess, I'd say it's for the factory amp for the rear speakers. Don't quote me on that, though.

Possible adverse effects are steering bind when you crank the wheel as well as excess tire wear and wheel and component damage (depending on clearance. Also, your tires might rub on the inner wheel well.

Ok, transmission, flywheel, clutch, brake/clutch pedal assembly, clutch hydraulics (master cylinder, slave cylinder, and lines), ECU and I'm not sure about Pathys, but I'm told some vehicles use a completely different wiring harness as well (although I'm fairly certain that the only thing truly diff...

The timing belt is a 60,000 service item (meaning replace it that often)

That said, the two biggest problems I'm aware of are the header bolts, as has been said, and from what I can tell the automatic transmissions (as built by Nissan) are weak and prone to breaking.

Actually, it still could be a burnt out bulb. IIRC, the tail light and the brake light are the same bulb, just gets brighter when you hit the brakes? In that situation, the bulb has two filaments: one (slightly dimmer) for the tail light, and one (slightly brighter) for the brake light. It's actuall...

The gearing doesn't change between 2H and 4H, the only difference is whether power is being applied to the front wheels. 4L is the only one that changes the gearing between the transmission and the wheels. Pathys *are* geared pretty low, but that's because Nissan didn't design them for highway cruis...

I don't know a lot about the Nissan automatics, but I've seen a lot of automatic Pathys on craigslist with transmission problems. My experience working on an automatic trans is pretty much limited to Ford AOD-E/4R70Ws, but at a guess I'd say it's a shift solenoid (assuming it's electronically contro...

That missing control arm bolt sounds odd. That's not something that would normally become an issue. However, the rest of it sounds like neglected maintenance. As for the control arm bolt, well........where's the bushing? There should be no way that the control arm or frame anchor should be damaged -...

Yeah, the front brakes are a pain if you have to either replace the rotors or get them turned. They're bolted to the back side of the front hub, and the easiest way to separate the two is while the hub is still on the vehicle. Remove the caliper assembly and the six bolts holding it to the hub (in b...
