On the Cats, not sure if anyone has mentioned, but RacerZX had an issue on his V6... IIRC there is a potential to get pieces of the catalyst upstream and into the cylinders. If that happened, you could have major engine damage. Not sure where you live, but if its not in the cards to replace them, I...

Good info! Thanks for doing all that research. Sorry to hear you sold your Pathfinder. Was it having any problems other that the cats? I had to replace the fuel sending unit since it was right over the mileage limit Nissan extended. About $100 and half a day so it was child's play compared to this ...

The SES light went on the day I made this thread, so January 23rd. Thankfully hasn't come back. You could be fine for a while then. If it was serious, surely the SES would be back on by now. It could've been bad gas, a misfire or other reason for poor ignition of the fuel causing a rich situation. ...

Wow, that was ALOT of info. Thanks.jut an Update; SES light hasn't come back on (knock on wood) so I don't know how it would only throw the code once and then never again, but I am sure not complaining. :D How long has it been since the SES light has been off? I've reset mine several times and they...

Will your Superchips allow you to record and view or export the voltage readings over a time period? According to what I've read, the voltages should vary quite a bit over a few milliseconds and cruising or a constant RPM may not be a good indicator of O2 function. Article on how to diagnose O2 sens...

Article on how to diagnose bad cats: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20091112145830AAzOPz0 The front cats are the two to be concerned with (there are 4 total) but the front two cats are between two O2 sensors. FYI, Advance Auto and Auto Zone are no help. Advance was going to sell me a re...

I dread the day I will have to replace my cats. I have found that Advance has direct fit replacements for $150 a piece. http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_Converter-Ultra-DF-Walker_10044166-P_145_R%7CGRPEXHAAMS_____ That is the rear cat not the front that is between ...

I got this code on the way home on Tuesday. First time, and I did some checking with my Superchips tuner on the way home. O2 sensor readings were all normal, so not sure why the code was tripped. Perhaps a blip. Will be watching to see if it comes back. Interesting...this is about a 2001 but I wond...

I didn't get the in-depth diagnostic but at my last oil change I was told I needed some cat related work. With that said, when I took a road trip of about a 1000 miles the light went off about halfway through. It came back on after a few days of city driving with my commute being about 45mi/day. I'...

I was a little skeptical since I know after certain codes are reset, it could take a few weeks for them to trip again and it could've just been a coincidence. I wonder it that's the normal time it takes P0430/P0420 codes to trip again. Or is it dependent on how badly the system is failing?

I just had a guy at Advance Auto tell me something interesting. He said with the wild temperature swings we've been having around Birmingham, AL, a flood of people have been coming in to have the cat/O2 sensor warnings reset. Around here, it's been 75F degrees one day then 30/40F the next and back a...

Sorry to hear that buddy..... did you ever do the bypass? yep had the bypass done 10k miles ago, but i guess damage was already done. How is it possible that you have coolant in your tranny if you did the bypass?????????? The two are no longer intermingled at that point in time as far as I know.......

I am at ~ 96K and my check engine light came on. My ODBII reader gave me the same code. P0430 is the code for a bad catalytic converter. I cleared the code but it came back a few days later. I will start by replacing the 02 sensors after the cats. Cats are not cheap, and I think it's a dealer only ...

I would to the ECM relay (should be free to you) and get them to check the ECM for codes - your misfire should be stored along with the cat code. Maybe play dumb and don't mention the 2-stroke stuff. Anything that causes a miss-fire, weither ECM relay or bad fuel (often diesel...I know..., but I se...
