I thought that you would be better using Nissan ATF if you were just draining and filling. Not mixing aftermarket ATF with OEM. Am I wrong ? Used Castrol import in the transfer case which I will use again, but that was a complete drain and refill so no mixing. In Canada they only sell type J I think...

Have you checked the operation of the clutch, either by cable or hydraulic actuation. You say the pedal is high, this could be that the play in the operation is poor, slack in the cable or air in the line. I would suspect that you have cooked the clutch but checking the cheaper bits is worth a look....

Update on the General grabber AT2. Well after only 200km I had to get them re-balanced , they just started to vibrate. Then after another 270kms they needed balanced again , getting a bit concerned with this outcome and you guessed it after just another 170kms re-balance needed. Well today I returne...

Nice write up and most looks very nice. I would be concerned with the washers as spacers. The suspension has not only a vertical load applied but a lateral load when cornering or going over rough terrain. By using spacers you have created a shoulder and a smaller point load to the bolt location. The...

Well I finally went and bought the General Grabber AT2 tires. So far they have driven smooth and they are quiet. Slight drop in mpg getting 12.4l/100kms as oppose to 11.7l/100kms so not a big drop. They are quite aggressive and I went for the all black version, tired of the BFG white letters. So far...

I would avoid any of these so called rubberized undercoats they can often cause more issues than they solve. Like my fellow Ontarian I would suggest having it done - if you are not inclined to get dirty. However, if you like the fact that you can do it yourself for less and with better cover - go fo...

I mounted a set of 4.5 inch 27 watt Kawell LED lights as I wanted them to fit inside my bull bar.
Just used a lighting relay and an illuminated rocker switch. Excellent output.

Thanks again for your input. I decided after more reading and checking on various forums that I would go for the General Grabber AT2 and ordered a set today. I am now wondering whether I should have the alignment checked after I get them installed. The tires are wearing evenly at 92k so is it worth ...

Well I thought I would restart this thread. You guessed it I never did get new tires. I made it back north in Jan no bother on the long trail tires and with little need to change them due to wear issues are still running them. However, I will be changing before this winter as I an north for the enti...

Thanks for the speedy reply. I have had mixed thoughts on the Goodyears although the reviews are good on the ones with Kevlar. Do you think that the LTX M/S are a good enough tread pattern for snow roads, I must admit the AT seems overkill for a mostly highway driver, but I am open to any comments a...

more questions about tires

I have read over most of the treads on tires and although very informative they are somewhat confusing. I am not an off roader although I live in rural eastern Ontario. I do a lot of highway driving but have to contend with deep snow on rural routes. I have the same tires that came from the factory,...

Replace the fluid it is easy. 2 bottles of Prestone DOT 3,turkey baster to remove master cylinder fluid - don't use your wife's - and if you have a compressor buy the pressure bleeder out of Harbor freight, works great. All in about $40 and you still have the tool. http://www.harborfreight.com/brake...

I did the front rotors a couple of months back, Raybestos HD and Akebono ACT pads. I am going to repeat on the back soon. Nice quality parts and went together well. So far all is good. I did have an issue with the slide pin rubbers after I re-greased them with Permatex lube, rear slides would not go...

I have been experiencing this open closed cycle thing - maybe a special Canadian and UK feature. Did you ever work out what was up. I seldom open the roof but we I have a brain fart and open it I don't want it doing this on a wet day. Is there a fuse or relay that can be taken out to isolate the sun...
