Hopefuly you can get to that. Sorry it took so long. But you can see its just a connector hanging down at the top of the shock, it may be covers by plastic dust panels or something, which have fallen apart on mine.

Mine has different ones in the front (the rear has the adjustable and they STILL work awesome), and the conectors are on wires just hanging there in the wheel well. maybe somebody had disconnected those from the truck at some point. Is it auto? old auto's are kidna prone to over heating. have you recently changed the trans fluid? if so and you or the people who did used gl5 your transmision is gone because the fluid disinigrated parts inside of it. You have to use gl4 in the trans and axles. hope thats not the case though bro.

4x4parts.com sells two inch lift kits for the R50's, with that and a litle bit of trimming under the front of the front fender you can run some almost 33's if you want! The timing belt could do that, It might also have bent some valves inside the engine. I noticed mine seemed lagging when i bought it and found out the timing belt had jumped and some valves were bent, but it still ran which is kinda cool. If its a Terrano its the same as 87 to 95 pathys, the rear defogger if you have it is on the dash around the steering wheel, don't know where for you cause you might have right hand drive...
If its a terrano II its not the same as a pathfinder.

Don't know why it doesn't work, maybe something about the tranny cooler, many people have had problems and gotten aftermarket ones. As for converting, depends on if you want to, auto is easier offroad but manual can give you more control if you know how to used your left foot in combo with your righ...

they usually have a sticker on the differential that says lsd or limited slip for mechanics who will change the gear oil, see if its there.
