I have a somewhat different problem with my 2005. I pull on the hood release handle and the hood latch clicks, but the hood won't pop up. I have to go out and lift it up with my fingers to its normal "popped" height, and then I can reach in and unlatch and raise it normally. It does stay u...

I'm not particularly handy but I was able to swap out my hatch struts on my 2005 Pathfinder SE for the 200lb McMaster struts. One thing I might suggest is putting the clips halfway into their respective slots before you put the strut heads back on their corresponding balls. Then you can just push th...

So it turns out it wasn't the radiator/tranny issue at all, but was a U-joint problem. All this has got me thinking though that I should do the bypass anyway.

For folks who have done this, is it correct that the power flush should NOT be employed? How many quarts of fluid do you have to go through to thoroughly flush the transmission?

Noticed that at around 50-60 mph (getting on the highway) that it felt sluggish, like it should be downshifting to rev higher, and it's not doing that. I can manually shift down to 3rd and get the extra rev if I want. I just noticed this for the first time yesterday.

Thanks. Keeping my fingers crossed that I can at least do the bypass and flush out the tranny, and get a few more miles out of it before it craps out completely.

2005 Pathfinder transmission problem

OK, at 115,000 miles I think I'm starting to experience the well-known radiator/transmission problem. My mechanic will tell me tomorrow, but at this mileage, do I have any recourse under any of the extended warranties or any other Nissan-sponsored programs? What about class-action suits?

Possible ECM issue?

2005 Pathfinder SE, about 78,000 miles. This morning I was sitting at a stop light when it started idling really rough. Looked down at my instrument panel and idiot lights are all popping up. Pushing the accelerator had no effect, and the power steering was out. My hazards worked fine, as did the he...

UPDATE 10/19/10: Had my local mechanic cut out the corroded sections of pipe and replace with rubber tubing. When they got under there, it turned out that the pipes were also leaking in another location farther up the line from the problematic rubber piece. They ended up replacing about 3 feet on ea...

I'm in Massachusetts too, and recently discovered that I have this problem. Forgive my lack of automotive acumen, but is it possible just to clean this crap off and wrap the tubes in duct tape or something?
