Those are the ones that typically go out. The front drive shaft still turns in 2WD or 4WD. Right, but it's not being put under any stress in 2wd.... Hrm. Oh well, what would I know, I just replace the things, I don't engineer em. Anyway, it's a job that's easy enough. All I need are the part...

Well it's not the front bearings cuz I just did those in November.

I'll double check turning left/right again to be sure.

Just really odd that it stops completely when I let off the throttle.

So weird... Found the thread I made back when I originally replaced the U Joints in May of 2011 with 91,500 (now has 152k)... http://www.thenissanpath.com/viewtopic.php?t=5411&highlight=joints Symptoms were completely the opposite. Then: only heard it at HIGH speeds and only on decel... got wors...

Doesn't change with left/right turning.

Hmm... so you guys are thinking FRONT Ujoints or driveshaft? Even though it's WORSE in RWD than it is in 4WD?

by-passed? Yes. Bypassed since about 84k miles. U-joint That was another thought and that's what I'm hoping it is. I replaced them myself but I can't remember when... couple of years ago maybe? It was a cheap fix & easy enough to do myself, but I dunno if that's it... I have my doubts..... Whee...

Hrm... not good. Rumbling under acceleration 45mph-70mphish

So I'm getting a rather disconcerting and worsening shuddering through the whole chassis (but not the steering wheel) under acceleration, starting around 45-50mph and seeming to go away a little bit as I approach 75. It doesn't seem to be RPM related or gear related, as it doesn't change pitch/frequ...

Def not the only one Nissan should have reversed the connector so that the male part was on the bottom. The way it's oriented all the dirt, grime & crap goes right down into it. Flip it around and grime can't fall down into it and jam it up. Chances are I'll never have to disconnect them again b...

Job (relatively) well done. Note to self: Next time skip the hour of screaming and swearing while trying to unclip the connector the proper way. Instead just break the side of the connector you don't need anymore. https://scontent-b-lga.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn2/1451437_10201904554767156_722121144_n...

Don't have a shop manual.... anyone have the torque specs for the main bearing nut?

Not sure what other info I'll need for this. Just about to pull the first side.

If you grab each end in a hand and twist back & forth really quickly you'll feel the good one free up a little inside. A bad one will stay stiff.

I've got a bullydog. Purchased primarily for engine monitoring (I tow heavy a lot), fuel economy, power, diagnostic codes, etc.... all the typical reasons. I like it a lot, but it wasn't cheap. I purchased it from www.trucktune.com. By far the best price I could find online. Happy with the purchase ...
