Definetly sounds more like a tranny problem. Although the ticking hints that it could be the engine.

A bad alternator or bad charging system may also make the gauges go crazy. Hopefully is just that.

I think you should feel good...its better than my 14 MPG and I'm running 0w-30 gas saver.

Do you do mostly highway? I think you should reset it and see what happens.

I also notice I tend to step on more with with fresh oil...

I always use syntheric; Mob.1 preferably with Mob.1 Filter. Currently trying the 0w-30 gas saver. I usually change at 5k miles.

I'm actual more concern about engine lube on start up as I was reading that most of the engine wear occurs at start up.

Perhaps I over represented the rpms spiking..it only goes to 2000 but then comes back down. I now know its not a problem but typical.

Thanks. Art.

Hey Coloradopath

I have been getting a rattle from the tailgate. Where did you find the part? Does it look hard to change?

I see. Good thing I kept the stock filter. However, I'm going to try it for some miles and then reconsider. I know there is a diferrence between new and washed K&N.

High rpm on start up

Hello all, I just joined in but have read much about the PF. Thanks. Anyway, my wifes pathfinder starts at around 2200 rpm when starting in the morning. Based on what I read its kind of normal. However, sometimes it even makes like a metallic noise from the bottom; especially when it sits for two da...
