I have a 1999 pathfinder ....the manual says to use genuine Nissan power steering fluid..or in canada use dexron 3/mercon .....what can I use off the shelf here in usa and why does the Nissan manual show different for canada?

I am hoping I can get ideas about an issue I have with my 1999 pathfinder 4X4. Normally the steering wheel sits at 1200 position.
