Best I've ever used is Barrier Reef by Surf City Garage. It's a super high end carnauba wax. Hard to find, but NAPA can order it. Awesome stuff, goes on nice and comes off nice. Their Speed Demon quick detailer also rocks. I've done the pepsi challenge with Mothers, Meguires, and Lucas. No comparison

I use car wash soap and water. Same as I use to clean the car. That's what body shops used before the public found out about it.

Always cover the throttle position sensor with a piece of foil. Some older ones don't like water. I'm lucking to have a car wash within a half mile of my house. If you're in a pinch and have nothing else, use some shampoo. Seriously, It's PH balanced.

Harsh detergents like dish soap or laundry detergents no only strip wax, they also dry out door weatherstripping. Not good if you plan to keep your ride for a lot of years.
